As a Common Test Lab (CTL) Systems Engineer you will work as part of a team responsible for the integration of complex systems revolving around existing and future products in a fast paced environment. In this team you’ll be working with the CTL’s Operations and Development teams on how to enhance Software Engineers’ experience and productivity in a shared hardware and test environment. You’ll also work closely with QA and Development business units in incorporating various internal projects as well as current and future technologies around servers, networking, and storage. As part of the Research and Development function, the overall focus of the group is on competitive market and customer requirements, technology advances, product quality, product cost and time-to-market. This position requires and individual who is creative, team-oriented, technology savvy, and driven to produce results.
Essential Functions: A major part of your responsibility will be to work as part of a team responsible for:
- Gathering system requirements
- Communicating requirements across the CTL organization
- Ability to read and understand software and/or hardware functional and design specifications
- Apply current skills and use up-to-date technologies to complete projects
- Participate in technical discussions
Job Requirements
Job Requirements:
- Excellent problem solver
- Strong oral and written communication skills are essential
- A good understanding of the software development lifecycle
- Strong aptitude and passion for learning new technologies
- Familiarity around basic concepts of computer architecture, data structures, and standard programming practices
- Intermediate level of experience around scripting languages such as Perl, Python, or shell scripting
- Experience around NAS/SAN storage protocols including CIFS, NFS, iSCSI, FCP, and FCoE
- Experience and systems administration skills around UNIX based (RHEL, Centos, Ubuntu) and Windows operating systems
- Strong experience around network technologies including TCP/UDP, IPv4, IPv6, routing, switching, and VLANS
- Intermediate experience around SAN concepts including zoning and VSANS
- Intermediate experience around VMware (vSphere) technologies
- Familiarity around Cisco or Brocade networking technologies and products
- Knowledge of network services including Active Directory, LDAP, DNS, and NIS
- Experience with C, C++, or Java is a plus
- Experience with test automation is a plus
- Experience with (NATE) a plus.
