Job Description

An ideal candidate will have prior experience managing multiple user-facing services and the teams which developed and operated them, will be capable of technical deep-dives into code, networking, operating systems and storage yet verbally and cognitively agile enough to hold their own in a strategy discussion with the executive team. Key Responsibilities: -
Own end-to-end availability and performance of the global infrastructure -
Ensure a great, almost-100% reliable experience for users around the globe while simultaneously enabling a rapid pace of innovation and change in the services -
Responsible for the day to day activities of IT Operations including security, monitoring and change management -
Manage complex server environments supporting hundreds of millions transactions per day and multiple data centers, including strong familiarity with cloud infrastructure architecture (AWS, RackSpace, etc.) -
Manage 24 x 7 monitoring of all infrastructure systems and help ensure 99.9%+ SLA uptime -
Participate in technology research, procurement, deployment, and configuration of new systems -
Leading change management including identifying appropriate resources needed, developing schedules to ensure timely completion of the projects -
Provide input to leadership on IT strategy, operations, cost
Job Requirements
Minimum Job Requirements: -
BA/BS in Computer Science (in lieu of degree, 4 years of relevant work experience) -
At least 5 years of relevant work experience including hands-on technical management experience -
Experience with AWS, colocation, private cloud, networking -
Must have experience operating highly available & scalable platforms and applications -
Strong ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and motivate professional staff -
Excellent communication skills, including the ability to hold your own in a discussion with senior leadership -

Advertising or Analytics technology background -
Mobile phone technology background -
Experience working in rapidly scaling start-up environments This is a direct hire opportunity with one of our clients in Durham, NC. Actual title of the position is Director of Operations, but since the company is small this is a hands-on management role (probably 80% hands-on, 20% management). Right now will only manage a systems administrator, with more people added in as the company grows. Must have prior experience working for a startup.
