Then we have the right place for you!  Our client is looking to extend the Quality Engineering team with individuals who have a passion for building, breaking, and making things work to verify that the product is a robust product that our customers can easily use.

 

Responsibilities of the QA Engineer:

• Analyze existing and proposed products and technologies to identify test plans, and implement associated changes to the test environment

• Write and execute manual and/or automated test cases

• Contribute to the bug-find/fix process by generating detailed bug reports and, when appropriate, contribute fixes, documentation updates and/or validations of provided fixes

• Maintain and improve a large diverse test infrastructure encompassing dozens of applications across multiple operating systems and architectures

• Write and revise utility scripts, load automation, and web test applications

• Collaborate with Product Management, Development Engineers and Customer Support on product changes.

• Self-starter mentality with the ability to work with little supervision

Qualifications of the QA Engineer:

• A degree in Computer Science or related field and/or significant work experience in the computer industry preferred

• Hands on experience in system administration of *nix Operating Systems, and knowledge of Windows

• A solid understanding of networking and networking technologies

• Strong troubleshooting skills, and the ability to resolve technical problems on your own

• Demonstrable abilities in a scripting language such as shell, Perl, Python, etc.

• Prior test experience in a software product environment is preferred

 

Other optional skills:

• Hands-on experience installing, configuring or maintaining complex, multi-tier applications and databases and troubleshooting in those environments

• Experience with virtualization - VMware, Xen, Hyper-V, Solaris LDOMs/zones, AIX LPARs/WPARs

 

The QA Engineer is a direct hire opportunity with one of our clients in Morrisville, NC. The target salary range is $80,000 - $100,000. A local candidate is strongly preferred.  No sponsorship available.
