UI Visual Designer
The Senior UI/Visual Designer is responsible for designing and implementing an intuitive user interface for a comprehensive redesign of a complex learning platform. The Senior UI/Visual Designer will work with multiple teams of UX designers, business analysts and developers to create effective, cohesive UI design solutions that meet the needs of varied users. S/he will also collaborate with internal business partners to ensure that the designs support business strategies and objectives and promote the brand. This is a hands-on design position.
Requirements
Background:
? 7+ years’ experience in graphic design, including cover a range of web design, application design (web and client-server), and product development
? Branding experience
? Experience in designing for configurable interfaces that are populated with dynamic content.
? Understanding of front-end development technologies
? Experience in creating deliverables in accordance with Section 508 compliance regulations
? Excellent listening and presentation skills, including the ability to communicate visual design concepts to non-designers
Portfolio:
? Portfolio must show an excellent design sense, particularly in the areas of layout, visual cues, icon design and information design.
? Design aesthetic must be versatile and reflect a sophisticated understanding of style as it relates to audience and content and a high degree of visual organization.
? Solutions should demonstrate a track record of developing simple and elegant navigation systems.
? Candidate should be prepared to speak about the processes used to develop these solutions and the specific role that s/he played in the development of each site.
Technical Skills:
? Adobe Illustrator, Adobe PhotoShop, Macromedia Dreamweaver, Axure
? Front-end coding a plus such as HTML, CSS, or ActionScript
Responsibilities:
? Conceive and execute visual design solutions that support the brand and business objectives
? Work collaboratively with UX designers and business analysts to arrive at navigation scheme and interaction approach
? Provide scheduling, level-of-effort estimation, and status of visual design progress to project management
? Plan for iterative reviews and feedback cycles
? Develop sample screens and interactive concepts (low and high fidelity) for usability testing and concept presentation
? Create and apply visual design templates
? Document visual style guides and specifications for interactive applications
? Work with the Senior Director of UX Design to refine and present concepts to internal business partners
? Write detailed specifications to be delivered to developers
? Perform their own production work (cut art, etc) and the production work of others.
