Project Manager (Financial Services) ~ Westlake, TX
- Currently looking for a Project Manager to work on-site in Westlake, Texas.
- This is going to be an Application PM role so need to have a development background. This is for the InvestOne project (SunGuard) and the PM will be also responsible for delivering enhancements, oversight of code development, working through UI testing, communicating with vendors and the defect management piece of the project as well (full life cycle). The team is still on mainframe and work in a waterfall environment (not agile).
- The manager is ideally seeking someone with 5-10 years of experience.
- Financial Services experience is a huge plus and desired, but she will consider someone still if they don’t have this background. I would still target candidates with that experience since it has been an issue in the past with this business unit. It’s a huge learning curve for them if they don’t have the finance services background.
- The project team size is 40-50 people.
Position Description:
- The Project Manager (PM) role is accountable for successful completion of multiple concurrent medium to large size projects through all phases of the Project Life Cycle.
- Typical projects may include the design, development, and implementation of a new information system, a project to re-design a business process, or a project to launch a new product into the operations environment. Decisions made by the PM will have significant impact on business profitability and reputation. In this role you will be responsible for directing the daily activities of project team members organized in a distributed matrix environment.
- We are seeking experienced candidates with a proven track record managing technical infrastructure projects within the financial services industry. Candidates should have the ability to work across business unit and departmental boundaries to achieve common goals.
- Strong communications skills are essential to communicate effectively with systems teams, internal and external users and clients, and to effectively manage project communications across the business.

| Job Requirements |
Primary Responsibilities:
- Manage multiple business and technical project of varying size and complexity through the full life-cycle
- Will be in charge of delivering enhancements and defect management
- Develop and maintain all necessary project plans for assigned initiatives (e.g. Project Plans, Resource Plans, Risk Plans, Status Reports, etc.)
- Work collaboratively with technology and business partners to deliver solutions
- Manage the daily work activities and performance for all assigned project team members
- Perform issues management, including tracking, escalation, and resolution
- Monitor and resolve project interdependencies
Education and Experience
- BS/BA Degree (MBA a plus)
- 5+ years of related Project Management experience (e.g. Financial Services, Banking, etc)
- Certified Project Management Professional (PMP®) or equivalent PM experience
- PMP not required, but a plus
- Development background of some type desired
- Financial Services experience desired
Position Type: Contract 6 months+
Pay Rate: $42-45/hr |
