Our client is seeking to hire a Vice President of Global Engineering.  Their global solutions are capable of improving operational efficiency, reducing costs, and mitigating regulatory risk for clinical trials, and their clientele consists of pharmaceutical, biotech, medical device clients, clinical research organizations and sites performing clinical trials.

As the global head of engineering you will provide leadership across all relevant technical areas, plan and implement new customer initiatives, manage engineering, QA, and all other technical teams.

The position requires an individual who can develop and execute a strong technology strategy, manage the organization that develops and supports these applications, and be a hands-on technologist leading the architecture direction and implementing engineering best practices. The position also requires an experienced perspective based on organizational development, active collaboration, agility, technical excellence and the ability to successfully partner with and advise senior business and technology leaders.

 

Responsibilities of the Vice President of Global Engineering:

• Manage local and remote team of software engineers, QA, and technical writers

• Manage a growing portfolio of clients

• Provide overall leadership on development efforts across the project portfolio and drive the direction of future product development

• Build and maintain the product (.Net 4.0, WCF, HTML, and JavaScript)

• Design software architecture to efficiently deploy new client experiences

• Collaborate with internal groups and stakeholders on all initiatives

• Establish and maintain engineering best practices, including development methodologies

• Rapidly develop software to demonstrate functionality to stakeholders

• Effectively integrate with third party solutions using external or internal API’s

Qualifications of the Vice President of Global Engineering:

• BS degree preferably in Computer Science or related field

• 10+ years of experience in building SaaS and/or cloud-based software solutions for external customers

• 3+ years of experience managing remote engineering teams

• Proven track record of delivering sophisticated projects

• Proven track record as a self-leader with the ability to motivate others

• Proven track record of delivering projects on time and on budget

• Start-up company mentality with the motivation to grow software solutions aggressively

• Demonstrated understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle and an ability to work hands on with the development team

• Solid understanding of quality assurance testing and compliance

• Proficient in all relevant programming languages - .Net 4.0, HTML, and JavaScript

• Someone with a background in clinical software and\or financial software solutions is highly preferred

 

The Vice President of Global Engineering position is a direct hire opportunity in Raleigh, NC. Our client is flexible on how the package is put together, but is expecting people to be in the $160,000 - 180,000 total compensation range.  They will consider people at the director level who are ready to move into a VP role, or people who are currently a VP.
