Senior Compliance Specialist

The compliance specialist monitors federal and state legislative activities that may impact clients, products and services.  Monitors and tracks industry and regulatory trends to identify opportunities for new products and modification to existing products. Conducts research on federal and state legislation, regulations and administrative rules, both insurance and securities, as needed to support Regulatory Affairs team. Accountable for providing in-house compliance expertise, assistance to products and service offerings, and providing compliance consulting opportunities Conducts research of competitive landscape for opportunities

Essential Functions/Responsibilities of the Senior Compliance Specialist:

  • Monitor and track industry and regulatory trends to identify opportunities for new products and necessary changes to existing products.

  • Monitor federal and state legislative activities that may impact clients, products and services as assigned.

  • Conduct research on federal and state legislation, regulations and administrative rules as needed to support Regulatory Affairs team.

  • Perform regular review and updates for product management and services offerings on emerging regulation with potential for affecting existing product sets and services as well as development of new product sets and services.

  • Provide regulatory support for existing applications and service offerings, such as current application compliance/adherence to regulatory requirements (ex., development of features to ensure applications are sufficient to meet requirements of Compliance Monitoring, Securities Registration, Insurance Licensing, Continuing Education, Product Training, etc.)

  • Provide regulatory analysis and support for the development of requirements for enhancements to applications and services, and assisting product management in identifying business and functional requirements for any proposed enhancements

  • Research competitive landscape for existing product offerings to identify opportunities for existing products, including identification of and development of requirements underlying enhancements necessary to remain competitive, and assist in the development of marketing efforts to promote the product offerings

  • Work closely with the product managers, technology developers and internal staff to improve insurance producer, insurance company, carrier and b-d compliance applications and services

  • Provide subject matter expertise and support on various deals where requested



Job Requirements

Job Requirements of the Senior Compliance Specialist

  • 5+ years experience in insurance licensing and/or securities registration related area.

  • Expertise in the compliance industry and understanding of client needs

  • Knowledge of State and Federal rules, regulations, statutes, and procedures regarding insurance and bd compliance, producer and adjuster licensing and securities registration

  • Ability to work independently in a fast paced environment

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Clear communication skills required

  • Proven skill in managing multiple tasks and in establishing priorities

  • Computer proficient in all Microsoft Office software

  • Bachelors degree in Business, Law and/or related field

This is a contract opportunity with strong possibility of conversion for one of our clients in Morrisville, NC. Hiring manager is going out of leave so starting position as contract to speed up the hiring process.  Client does not allow posting of rate information, but it is market.  A local candidate is strongly preferred, but will consider someone able to relocate to Raleigh on their own.
