The Senior Web Developer is responsible for building new products and supporting existing products on client website. Working closely with project stakeholders including editorial, sales, marketing, and business development the Senior Web Developer will build front-end XHTML templates for website.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Code, test and document XHTML templates and assets
Assist in XHTML integration into Vignette CMS
Code, test and document Wordpress templates
Develop custom Wordpress functionality as needed (provide examples of past experience)
Code, test and document JS functionality using standard libraries like jQuery as well as shared company libraries and third-party plugins
Provide site / code architecture guidance, contribute expertise in developing internal best practices and standards and develop expanding global code libraries across sites and environments
Communicate clearly with the managers and other developers to identify tasks, provide estimates and ensure production deadlines are met
Be able to manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision
Be able to work closely with a team and demonstrate eagerness to contribute to a better online experience
Education and/or Experience
4+ years of work experience hand-coding efficient XHTML, CSS and JS for high-traffic websites
Expertise with jQuery and / or other JS libraries required
Experience with interpreted and / or compiled development languages a plus
knowledge of Photoshop is required for optimizing web graphics for speed and performance
Must be qualified to work in the US and able to work in New York City
