Project Engineer

This position is accountable to disposition assigned customer sales orders requiring Engineering review. The Project Engineer also leads product Improvement, Modification, Extension, and Cost Reduction projects as directed.
1. Reviews assigned sales orders, including quotation and Customer purchase orders and specifications to determine order requirements and ensure the suitability of the application. Manages and coordinates all required communication, specifications, documentation and project schedules for 'high specification' sales orders.
2. Reviews quoted design to assure that mechanical design and thermal performance, under specified operation conditions, will perform in accordance with stated specifications as well as be consistent with established engineering practices.
3. Checks quoted cost to ensure that all special design requirements have been considered in the price development. Informs Customer Service, Marketing or Sales personnel of any area of discrepancy. Recommends Order hold points on open orders as required.
4. Generates all appropriate drawings and/or prepares sketches and instructions to Drafters/Designers for preparation of detailed drawing packages. Assists other departmental employees to ensure correct and safe mechanical designs are obtained.
5. Coordinates activities with the required internal departments and outside agents or agencies to properly deliver what was sold and assist in meeting the delivery schedule requirements.
6. Contacts internal and external resources to obtain cost estimates required by work-in-process design changes. Transmits this information to Customer Service and initiates the contract change process to properly record and communicate updated pricing and design changes.
7. Interacts with all internal departments and outside agents or agencies as required to resolved post sales issues. This includes assisting in analyzing and developing solutions for any issues that may occur after installation by the end Customer. Solutions may require travel to the job site by the Project Engineer.
8. Provides technical expertise for Production support issues and Engineering Research and Development projects.
9. Leads product Improvement, Modifications, Extensions, and Cost Reductions projects through project management, cross functional teams, design engineering, and computer aided design.
10. Understand and comply with company quality and personnel policies and procedures.
Financial Responsibility: Design errors and/or order mis-management, resulting from the Project Engineer, could result in costly re-work and/or customer penalties. These errors can be significant in terms of financial impact to the company's financials.
Nature of the Role: Provide Engineering technical oversight on sales orders and leadership on departmental projects.
Scope of the Role: This position is responsible for the technical review and administration of sales orders that require Engineering review. The Project Engineer also takes leadership in project Improvement, Modification, Extension, and Cost Reduction projects. Provides Production and Research and Development support and training as required.

Required: Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) degree from a ABET accredited school. Excellent computer skills, proficient in Pro Engineer and Microsoft Project. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred: At least two years directly related heat transfer experience including exposure to TEMA and ASME Codes. Additional experience would include AutoCAD, Finite Element Analysis (FEA), uniform building code knowledge, and European Community Pressure Equipment Directive (CE/PED).
Required: Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) degree from a ABET accredited school. Excellent computer skills, proficient in Pro Engineer and Microsoft Project. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
