Job Description

The Technical Consultant is a technical position with direct client exposure.

This position reports to Technical Operations and resides within the Services organization. The Technical Consultant interacts at all levels of the PatientKeeper Community: Strategic Clients, Field Service Teams, Engineering, as well as all levels of Management. The Technical Consultant focuses upon the management of technical projects, deployment of new or complex products and identification and resolution of product issues experienced within strategic client environments, under extreme production loads. In addition to carrying responsibilities for assisting development in identifying segments of the application in need of re-architecting, the Technical Consultant is also responsible for developing creative temporary workarounds and short-term solutions to technical issues discovered within client production environments.

Core Responsibilities:
* Ability to take a project and run with it, be a self starter, solve your own problems
* Deploy beta products, document deployment process, and develop necessary documentation to allow subsequent deployments to be seamless
* Investigate anomalies within the product leading to application outages in production environments (ability to diagnose problems down to the code level)
* Be active member of enterprise project deployments assisting with technical architectures, beta deployments, complex technical issues, etc
* Participate in the system architecture of future releases with the goal of increased scalability, supportability and availability
* Work with other departments to improve software and business processes, maintaining the company’s focus on Product Availability, Reliability, and Performance
* Support direct sales force through in-person meetings, on calls, and through development of Statements of Work and RFPs.
* Travel to client sites up to a maximum of 20%.

Job Requirements

Required Skills
* Direct, client facing experience ideally with Sales Support or PM experience as well
* Broad experience in diagnosing software, database, middleware, and architectural issues experienced within production implementations
* Experienced in Java and J2EE Technology (JSP, Servlets, JDBC, etc.)
* Strong analytical skills for effective problem solving solutions
* Experienced in large-scale enterprise class n-tier application architecture
* Object Oriented Design & Development
* Internet Technologies (HTML, Java, Javascript, XML, Java Application Servers)
* Strong skills using RDBMS (Oracle, MS SQL Server) technologies
* Excellent written and communication skills

Desired Skills:
* Healthcare Domain Experience
* Experience with WebSphere and Tomcat
* Knowledge of Service-oriented Architecture (SOA)
* Experience working with Java applications on a Windows platform
* Knowledge of network architecture and load balancing
* Experience in HL7 standards
