Director of Game Systems Development
Position Summary
This position is responsible for leading the client-side technical architecture and development of large-scale, high-volume consumer-facing multiplayer gaming and virtual worlds systems. This is a key role on a creative, highly-skilled and motivated team and plays an integral part in the long-term success of the virtual worlds products.
Responsibilities
Lead a 10-12 person client-side software development team, functioning as a hands-on player in development activities as necessary
Define and manage the client-side architecture of virtual worlds and gaming systems. Make use of UML diagrams, flowcharts, wikis and other tools to document and communicate systems architecture.
Research and keep current with best practices and cutting-edge technologies in the virtual worlds/mmog space to evaluate and recommend solutions for the best possible end-user experience. Always maintain special attention to optimization of client system performance.
Lead integration of in-game and in-world site analytics and data collection.
Collaborate with and support other departments to achieve creative, business and marketing objectives
Contribute to technical specifications of development projects. Collaborate on the development of game design documents.
Evaluate vendors and outside developers and maintain successful working relationships with critical 3rd parties.
Qualifications
Subject-matter expert in internet software development, with specific expertise in advanced client-side technologies like Flash, Unity and 3D engines
Specific knowledge and expertise in multiplayer gaming development
