Job Description
The main function of a marketing assistant is to research market conditions in local, regional, or national areas to determine potential sales of a product or service. A typical marketing assistant is responsible for gathering information on competitors and methods of marketing and distribution. An entry level marketing assistant typically has a Bachelors degree or equivalent training and experience with media communication and reporting. As the levels progress, the years experience increase along with leadership expectations, with the introduction of a supervisory role at Level 4. The technical skills, including the ability to apply the knowledge of selling products and services, increase across levels, starting from basic at Level 1 to expert at Level 5.
Major Job Duties and Responsibilities:
o Perform industry and competitor due diligence across a wide variety of business and technical areas
o Provide broad-based support to the intellectual property team by assessing third party technologies, developing strategies for licensing (both in and out), direct IP valuation projects
o Gather data on competitors and analyze their prices, sales, technology, IP and method of marketing and distribution
o Monitor industry statistics and follow trends in trade literature
o Direct organization on new ideas, strategies, and perceptions associated with the promotion, distribution, design and protection of company products and services
