Overview
Lockton is the world’s largest, privately owned, independent insurance broker. With more than 4,000 people, Lockton delivers seamless service to companies of all sizes as well as to individual clients. The company was founded by Jack Lockton in Kansas City, Missouri, USA in 1966. From his modest, home-based insurance agency, Lockton has grown to become the 10th largest insurance brokerage firm in the world.

Our Resources
Lockton service teams can be found on four continents and in major cities in the United States, United Kingdom, Ireland, Latin America, and Asia. In addition, our European broker partnership with EOS RISQ expands Lockton’s service to our clients to offices in 43 countries.

We leverage our international resources, expertise and experience to bring you tailored solutions to your unique risk management issues and employee benefit challenges. Our long-term relationships with underwriters around the world allow us to negotiate comprehensive coverage at the best price possible. But in the end, it’s our people that are our greatest resource. Your service teams become your partner and advocate to help your business grow.

Our Growth
Our Chairman, David Lockton, jokes that "When we talk about planning for the next quarter, we're talking about the next quarter century." But that doesn't mean we're slow or complacent. In fact, our organic growth and client retention rates are the envy of the industry. We have posted double-digit annual growth since our start in 1966, driving a compound annual growth rate of 19% during the past 10 years.
Culture
More than 15,000 clients rely on Lockton's more than 3,800 professionals for their expertise in managing risk and creating employee benefit programs. We attract top talent by giving them the ability to maximize their skills, making Lockton a great place to work and a better place to provide the best service to our clients. Private ownership allows us to invest more in our people. For example, each new Associate spends the equivalent of two weeks in their first year alone on development and training. We continue to invest in each of our Associates with a vibrant combination of insurance training and leadership development to build our expertise and expand the capabilities of our people. Lockton clients consider their service team an extension of their own risk management and human resources teams. We place a tremendous emphasis on assigning the right service team members to each client. In addition, our Associates understand the critical importance of learning clients’ businesses and industries. Each Associate is strongly encouraged to participate in specific industry organizations and societies and many of them do on a regular basis. You will note that we use the word Associates instead of employees. That's intentional. It's a sign of respect for our colleagues around the world. And it's a daily reminder that we are professionals with a commitment to serve the greatest clients in the world.
Benefits
Supporting our communities is more than just a necessity— it is a privilege. For more than 40 years, Lockton Associates have given back to their communities, not because they have to, but because they want to. This example has set the tone for the 3,825 Lockton Associates who continue to give back in their own communities around the world. Together, we believe this commitment to social responsibility builds stronger families, better professional relationships and more committed Associates. It is simply the right thing to do. In 2006-2007, Lockton cared by getting involved in local communities. For example, Lockton raised $846,909 across the US for United Way, earning awards from local United Way Chapters in Chicago, Kansas City and Denver. The National Multiple Sclerosis Society named Lockton its National Employer of the Year for the firm’s commitment to supporting MS events like the MS 150 bike race as well as support for Lockton Associates suffering with the disease. In 2006-2007, Lockton contributed more than $3 million in sponsorships and charitable support to numerous organizations. Lockton Associates have added even more support, raising more than $108,000 and giving countless hours for community projects. Our History
Lockton Insurance was founded in 1966 by Jack Lockton (1942-2004) in Kansas City. From that modest, home-based business, Lockton Insurance has become Lockton, Inc., the world's largest privately owned independent insurance brokerage firm.

For the first ten years, Lockton was dedicated to the construction industry. In fact, Jack Lockton started his career as an underwriter for a surety bonding company before he started his insurance brokerage. Our company developed its core values and philosophies by focusing on the construction industry, a business that values partnerships, innovation, a sense of urgency, and strong loss prevention and claims management services.
Lockton operates globally. In 2006, Lockton acquired Alexander Forbes International Risk Services and the 1,600 professionals of Lockton International serve clients around the world.

Lockton’s success flows from its commitment "to provide the most uncommon results and service in a most common business." While we have experienced remarkable growth, our flat organizational model and short lines of communication remain. David Lockton, our Chairman, and the leaders of our operating companies have day-to-day responsibilities regarding client relationships and new business opportunities. They bring a strong sense of our clients’ needs to the decisions made regarding the operation and future of our company.
Our Beliefs
Since Jack Lockton established the company more than 40 years ago, we have been committed to doing the right things for our customers and the right things for our people. Fundamental to this is a set of philosophies and principles that define the way we do business. As a global company and a local employer, we take seriously our responsibility to deliver uncommon results for our clients and to enable our people to fulfill their potential.
