GRAPHIC / WEB DESIGNER

Job Summary:

Approximately two -three month project. Under moderate supervision, uses analytical and conceptual design expertise, artistic talent and technical skills to combine typography, images and graphic elements for a broad spectrum of company print and Web communication material such as: brochures, marketing/promotional items, displays, Web sites, print and online advertisements, e-mails, and presentations. Works individually and in team environments to plan, create, produce and evaluate the most cost-effective, communicative and timely material for external company customers and internal clients that meet company and departmental goals.

Communicates effectively with clients, Corporate Communication staff and leaders to complete design assignments according to project plans and specified timelines; applies time management and interpersonal skills. Designs within established company brand standards. Works with internal clients to ensure standards are upheld and applied consistently in company communication. Actively participates in the management and updating of company branding standards.

Job Duties will include the following:

  • Uses a Macintosh and/or PC workstation with Adobe software and other graphic design applications to create concepts, professional layouts and designs.
  • Also manages production of assigned company brochures, posters, Web sites, print and online advertisements, displays, promotional items, and presentation material.
  • Completes design review step with other team designers.
  • Collaborates with internal clients, writers, other designers and technical staff in the conceptual development and planning of print or Web communication material.
  • Works directly with internal customers and Corporate Communication staff; maintains communication with clients, other company resources, including Web staff, and outside vendors; utilizes departmental quality assurance step; and applies organization skills to prioritize multiple projects and meet project deadlines.
  • Manages printing bid process and budget; negotiates with and selects external printers; prepares files for prepress; and oversees print production process.
  • Provides art direction during photo shoots as needed; assists in management of designer project files, digital photographs, graphic images, etc.
  • Completes administrative duties, such as tracking project time in Clients & Profits software program, entering work time in PassPort and reconciling credit card purchases.
  • May order supplies for large format printers.
  • Stays abreast of industry trends, design best practices, and state-of-the-art equipment and tools.

Job Requirements for this position will include the following:

  • Bachelors degree from accredited college or university in graphic design or related creative field. Or, an equivalent combination of appropriate training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
  • Four years professional graphic design experience with a business or agency. (SIX yrs preferred)
  • Knowledge of creative layout, design and typography for print and Web; knowledge of Web navigation and design practices; print and Web production methods, costs, requirements and limitations of various media; understanding of color, digital imaging, color printing, scanning, as well as current and emerging industry trends; and communication principles and methods, as well as project management.
Preferred:
  • Familiar with audio/video and multimedia production; Web design principles.
  • Professional design, layout and illustration; photography and digital image manipulation; use of Adobe Creative Suite and other graphic design applications; written, verbal and interpersonal skills
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of personnel; consult with customers to determine persuasive, most cost-effective, communicative and timely material; employ analytical expertise, artistic talent, and technical skill to combine typography, photos and graphic images for cohesive, dynamic, visual communication; perform concentrated detail work with a high degree of accuracy; provide creative services under the pressure of multiple conflicting deadlines, frequent interruptions and changes in priority; maintain confidentiality and security of company information
Hours will be M- F, 8a.m. - 5p.m. Pay will be Flexible - Depending on experience depending on experience. This will be a Contract position. This job position will be located in Boise, ID 83704 in Ada County.
