Overall Responsibility: Work with Corporate IT staff members and HMH Divisions to bring a process focused approach to the delivery of approved projects. The project manager work with the projects team to drive, track and report the development of software products with agreed upon terms and references from project plans, starting from business requirements, analysis, design, acceptance testing, and implementation scope of work, objectives and approach. The right individual will exercise solid project management skills to lead and support large and small projects across divisions, throughout the project. Experience with ERP/SAP, E-commerce & SFA (Salesforce.com ) solution is a plus. Primary Accountabilities: Project Management

  • Manage the day-to-day activities in a wide range of a software development project
  • Report status accurately and transparently to the Project Sponsor customer
  • Determining project staffing requirements
  • Work with subject matter experts to define an approach to each requirement
  • Orchestrate the detailed technical work of the project
  • Create and maintain the project plan
  • Track all aspects of the project – including but not limited to o Deliverables o Risks / issues / dependencies o Outstanding Items o Requests for Change
  • Set and manage client expectations
  • Control project scope
  • Anticipate issues before they arise and drive the resolution process
  • Ensure an on-time and stable release
  • Effectively present information to management and team Contributing to Project Management process improvements Other responsibilities

    Requirements

    Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, related field, or equivalent
  • Minimum of 5 years experience managing software development projects
  • Web development management
  • Minimum of 5 years of hands on software development experience
  • Experience with the Rational Unified Process
  • Experience expressing requirements as Use Cases
  • Experience managing Time-box projects
  • Exceptional client communications
  • Experience setting and managing client expectations
  • Experience controlling project changes
  • Ability to conduct effective meetings
  • Ability to report status clearly and honestly
  • Knowledge of Software Development best practices and Software Development Lifecycle Process Preferred:
  • ERP / SAP project management
  • E-commerce solution delivery
  • SFA / Salesforce.com experience
  • UI design management
  • Content production management
  • Publishing experience
  • Knowledge of or experience with J2EE development
  • Knowledge of Object-Oriented Design principles and coding techniques for software development lifecycle helpful
