Description

Laureate Online Education, a division of Laureate Education, develops and supports leading distance-learning universities and businesses with the ultimate goals of increasing access to postsecondary education in markets worldwide and helping students reach their highest potential. GENERAL SUMMARY: This position will collaborate with course development teams to conceptualize content for degree programs and individual courses that contain both audio and video media as well as multimedia. The producer role is responsible to plan and acquire media content in collaboration with both the Domain and the Centralized Services Media Department. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaboratively determines through the development process which information in a course can be best represented through video, animations, simulations, or other multimedia in a wide variety of technologies. Expertise in more than one technology highly preferred. This position works closely with Program Designers and Course Developers to identify subject matter experts and develop compelling media targeted at a specific audience. Directs Subject Matter Experts in the refining of their material into concise modules that fit program templates. Completes Media Planner for each course that contains media.
  • Directs video shoots that capture Subject Matter Experts and Practitioners in the field. This responsibility includes providing the technical expertise to ensure that all media is captured or produced at a professional broadcast quality and that it is appropriate for the predetermined template.
  • Contacts leading Subject Matter Experts to determine their potential efficacy as subject matter experts in programs. Participates in negotiating expert's compensation for appearing in programs and working in collaborative development.
  • Manages the production budgets for courses. Monitors directly expenditures for travel, the hiring of crew or subcontractors, and expert compensation. Monitors indirectly the cost of production, editing, graphics, and final delivery in post-production.
  • Manages the pre-production process by guiding the production coordinator and production assistant through the hiring and assigning of staff and contractors, and the setting of schedules. Informs all participants of the logistical details of the upcoming shoot.
  • Oversees the assembly of all elements into final product. Requests input of content development team at pre-determined intervals in the pre-production, production, and post-production process.

Requirements

REQUIREMENTS OF THE POSITION:

  • Advanced knowledge of one or several types of media, including digital video media (Real, Quicktime), Flash, Shockwave, Java
  • Advanced knowledge of video lighting techniques and videography equipment
  • Experience in budgeting, scheduling, and the development of concepts into compelling targeted media product
  • Master's Degree preferred, Bachelors required
  • More than 7 years relevant industry experience required
  • Demonstrated excellence in collaboration with an extensive team to develop quality media product is an absolute requirement
