The Communications Specialist is responsible for day-to-day implementation of NIB’s corporate communications materials, including writing, editing and managing content for electronic and/or interactive communications programs (presentation development, speeches, corporate website, annual report and other collateral materials, intranet and electronic newsletters); interacting with NIB’s other departments on a regular basis to ensure consistent, effective and up-to-date corporate communications.
Education Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Communications, Journalism, Marketing or Interactive Communications, or equivalent experience in a related field and at least 3 years of communications experience. Training and Specialized Knowledge Required Strong writing and editing skills are required. Candidate must be able to produce compelling pieces under deadline without sacrificing accuracy or attention to detail; good understanding of web site technical architecture (HTML), as well as experience with web technology and web site tools (FrontPage). Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Excel. Strong organizational and research skills required. Experience Required 3-5 years related communications experience. Specific Duties and Responsibilities Responsible for the NIB website and intranet, including: • Overseeing and managing NIB’s website and intranet, ensuring consistency with corporate identity and messaging. • Proactively identifying, writing and posting new information to NIB’s website and intranet, maintaining synergy with overall PR and marketing goals. • Obtaining, prioritizing and editing submissions for sites, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of all information posted. • Tracking and reporting monthly usage rates. • Working with NIB’s internal IT team when needed. • Obtaining search engine registrations and reciprocal links to optimize searches to align with overall strategic communication goals. Responsible for Electronic Newsletters, including: • Management of weekly electronic newsletter to all NIB associated agencies and staff, to include editing submissions, preparing and submitting newsletter. • Management of new monthly electronic newsletter to broad audience, to include establishing content, writing and editing submissions, managing additional writer, preparing and submitting newsletter. • Updating and maintaining distribution lists for all electronic newsletters. Responsible for other Corporate Communications initiatives, including: • Development of PowerPoint presentations, including content and layout. • Writing projects, including annual report, success stories and announcements. • Digital photography of special events as needed and maintenance of photograph library. • Monitoring and communication of industry news via online research and nexis.com. • Submitting NIB for industry awards. • Management of NIB awards program.
