This individual will help drive the execution and operations for IT systems and services. Our client is a privately-held, invention investment company based in Bellevue, Washington. Their business model centers on creating, acquiring and licensing pure invention in a variety of technology areas. They plan to commercialize inventions through licensing, spin-offs, joint ventures and industry partnerships. Primary Responsibilities Analyzes database performance and efficiency and makes adjustments or recommends changes to optimize performance. Performs root cause analysis for all problems and recommends solutions to minimize future incidents. Plans future database capacity requirements. Monitors usage and performance of databases. Identifies and resolves problems or potential problems. Performs maintenance of database and related software products. Maintenance duties include: o Planning and executing data base backup and recovery. o Executing data changes. o Executing schema changes. o Executing index mods and updates. o Executing DB housekeeping scripts. Performs installation, participates in staging environment testing, and implements application releases. Executes stored procedure updates. Administers and manages user accounts, access etc. Maintains and administers replication. Executes system repairs/recovery. Executes system software updates. Executes configuration changes. Along with Database Developers and System Administrators; develops and maintains server specifications and data administration standards. Troubleshoots and repairs databases. Supports security administration tasks related to databases and related software. Advises users of databases concerning data availability, data access methods/tools, and data reporting. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Ability to analyze, solve and debug complex technical problems across multiple technical disciplines with minimal supervision. Demonstrated technical proficiency in client-server applications and web applications. Strong enterprise operations background. Ability to work well with technical and business teams. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, capable of writing documentation, and training others in complex subjects. Positive personality and the ability to work in a team environment as well as individually. Minimum Qualifications A minimum of 4 years progressive operational experience with SQL Server database administration, clustering, and high-availability platforms. Proven experience in SQL performance analysis and tuning, log shipping, replication, SQL clustering, scalability and reliability issues, Transact-SQL scripting, SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS/DTS), SQL Server Reporting Services, bulk copy programs (BCP), and Open Database Connectivity (ODBC). Strong knowledge of Excel, Word, Project, PowerPoint, and Visio for documenting technical subject matters Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related degree. Additional training or experience may substitute for educational requirement.
