The State of Mississippi offers a comprehensive set of benefits, as well as retirement plans, for state employees. In addition to the benefits listed below, several options plans are available to include coverage for dependents.
18 work days per year earned at one (1) day per month. Increases periodically thereafter. Eligible to use leave after one month of service.
12 work days per year, earned at a rate of one (1) day per month.
10 recognized holidays per year.
Provided free for employees. The plan entails a $450.00 deductible with 80% of the medical cost covered thereafter.
Authorized prescription drugs can be purchased at a discount.
Optional plan, which costs $12.00 to $15.90 per month for the employee.
Cost is only 30 cents per thousand dollars of annual salary. Payoff is double the employee's annual salary.
Deductions from salary are withheld before assessment of federal and state taxes, thereby reducing taxable income.
