Tyto Athene is looking for a forward-thinking and self-motivated Engineering & Architecture Manager to support our customer in Arlington, VA. This principal role demands a keen interest in emerging technologies, exceptional attention to detail, strong organizational and leadership skills, and the ability to manage in a highly collaborative work environment within the DOD. The EDM will lead multiple teams of engineers in providing advanced cybersecurity services, while also offering expert technical guidance, support, and input to ensure exceptional service delivery across various engineering pillars. Additionally, the EDM must be capable of completing complex tasks and projects swiftly with minimal guidance, responding with proper urgency to situations requiring quick turnarounds, and providing the necessary attention and support to overcome technical challenges. Responsibilities: Technical: * Provide technical direction to support 24x7x365 cybersecurity monitoring across a distributed network operations environment with guidance across multiple cybersecurity domains: Zero Trust Networking, Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR), Host Based Security System (HBSS), Advanced Email Threat Protection (ETP), and Security Information and Event Monitoring (SIEM) and Vulnerability Management * Collaborate with other functional teams to identify, vet, and implement new Security Automation opportunities; to include participation in client discovery sessions as requested * Lead product evaluations and alternative analyses, considering all factors to make sound recommendations for client product selection. Oversee the technical aspects of proofs of concept, pilots, and implementations. * Remain abreast of emerging technological initiatives: tools, technologies, and industry developments relevant to cybersecurity through formal training and independent research especially as it pertains to AI/ML/LLM * Design and execute strategic initiatives to advance the engineering team's growth and service capabilities, while reviewing and evaluating service delivery for time and cost efficiencies and expanding offered services. * Generate proper reporting and communication channels to relay the team's efforts to the customer, providing guidance and direction that aligns with the organization's mission, while effectively communicating technical details to both engineers and senior-level stakeholders. Team Leadership: * Mentor and develop team members to ensure high performance, support professional growth and career progression, while evaluating engineering talent to enhance the team's expertise through training, upskilling, and new hiring activities. * Develop, review, and approve technical documentation including handbooks, service guides, SOPs, RACI matrices, CONOPS, workflows, and integration guides to ensure operational consistency and continuity * Provide technical direction, training, and support as an expert in the cybersecurity field to build the team's skills and abilities, ensuring top performance, while overseeing continuous improvement efforts and leading and mentoring Agile engineering best practices across large engineering teams. Client-facing: * Ensure the highest quality service delivery and customer service across multiple external customers by assigning and fully resolving customer requests and issues. * Translate customer needs into defined requirements; develop innovative solutions * Create and deliver polished technical reports and presentations to senior level stakeholders Required: * Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field * 12 years of relevant experience * Zero Trust Networking Concepts * Endpoint Detection and Response * Email Threat Protection * Vulnerability Management * Security Information and Event Monitoring * Automation and Management Tools * Deception Technologies * User Entity and Behavior Analytics * Extensive knowledge of the information security threat landscape and with knowledge of SOC operations; as well as MITRE ATT&CK Framework knowledge and experience * Demonstrated experience of sound decision-making, taking ownership, and delivering results * Expert oral and written communications skills and ability to communicate effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences, up to and including executive (e.g., CIO/CISO) level * Customer-focused mindset acting as a trusted partner to the DOD customer Certification: DoD 8570 IAM/IAT Level II certification. This will change to a DoD 8140 equivalent once a DISA 8140 policy is released. Clearance: Active Top Secret required. Top Secret w/ SCI eligibility preferred. Location: This is an on-site role with expectations of being on the client site in Arlington, VA five days a week. Compensation:
• Compensation is unique to each candidate and relative to the skills and experience they bring to the position. The salary range for this position is typically $220K-$242K. This does not guarantee a specific salary as compensation is based upon multiple factors such as education, experience, certifications, and other requirements, and may fall outside of the above-stated range.
