Project Engineer

Pennant Solutions Group Richmond, VA (Onsite) Full-Time
CB Est Salary: $80K - $130K/Year

Pennant Solutions Group is in search of a Project Engineer in the Richmond, VA area. The best applicant would have previous experience in plumbing/ pipe metal / sheet metal / mechanical.


Summary/Objective: The Project Engineer collaborates with Project Managers (PMs) and Project Manager Assistants to lead multiple Commercial Construction projects. Interacting daily with field crews, customers, vendors, and subcontractors, the Project Engineer ensures team members have the necessary information and resources for success.


Essential Functions:



  • Maintains project tracking reports to monitor productivity and labor utilization.

  • Creates and maintains internal project schedules.

  • Prepares accurate and timely submittals for construction projects based on project drawings, specifications, and vendor information.

  • Tracks and receives approved submittals from architects or engineers, coordinating with the Project Team.

  • Assists Project Managers by preparing all necessary backup relating to change requests.

  • Completes all required project close-out documents per contract.

  • Updates and distributes contract documents to subcontractors, including drawings, specifications, and general conditions.

  • Schedules all required construction meetings with the ACI Team, subcontractors, vendors, and customers.

  • Attends pre-bid, project, and closeout meetings.

  • Solicits subcontractors and suppliers for proposals before submission deadlines.

  • Prepares correspondence with clients, architects, engineers, subcontractors, suppliers, etc.

  • Submits building permit applications, follows up on review progress, and receives approval.

  • Assists PM in achieving quality, schedule, budget, and safety goals.

  • Utilizes and maintains tools such as schedules and documents management to track and record project performance.

  • Documents quality and progress of each subcontractor and supplier, notifying of any changes to plans, specifications, and/or schedules.

  • Informs management of productivity, costs, quality control, document management, and processing of applications for payment.

  • Notifies management of any issues affecting quality, budget, progress, and safety.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Required:



  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering field, and 2 years of experience in a commercial construction environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Ability to apply innovative and effective management techniques to maximize team performance.

  • Superior communication and interpersonal skills are essential.

  • Strong multitasking abilities, able to work with minimal supervision, follow written and oral instructions, pay attention to detail, and demonstrate problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to pass post-offer pre-employment drug screening and potentially additional background checks (e.g., DMV, criminal history).

  • Adherence to all company policies and procedures.

  • Availability to work assigned schedules.


Work Environment:



  • Works in a professional office environment, routinely using standard office equipment.

  • Position may require visits to construction sites.


Physical Demands:



  • Routine use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.


Travel:



  • May require infrequent travel (typically not overnight).


Preferred:



  • Experience with MS Project or other scheduling software tools.

  • 3D modeling experience (Revit, AutoCAD, Inventor, Navisworks).

  • Proficiency in PDF Editing software (Bluebeam, Adobe).

  • Familiarity with cloud-based PM software.

  • Prior military experience.
