Control Algorithm Engineer
Casco Products Corporation in Novi, MI seeks a Control Algorithm Engineer to develop algorithms, embedded software, and computer models for evaluation of the hardware dynamics, and control performance for new DC/DC and DC/AC converter concepts.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop algorithms, embedded software, and computer models for evaluation of the hardware dynamics, and control performance for new DC/DC and DC/AC converter concepts.
- Responsible for hardware design, capturing schematics, PCB design support, EMC troubleshooting and hardware verification.
- Lead and support the hardware architecture, and the DCDC/DCAC converters topology to satisfy the requirements of different OEMs.
- Simulate and develop models for the control algorithm, the software management, and the electrical hardware in Matlab/Simulink.
- Create, build, develop and calibrate hardware and control strategies to achieve ZVS or ZCS, and the dynamic required by the system.
- Specify electronics for sensing state variables.
- Create test plans and perform validation of the hardware, control algorithms and software.
- Support software implementation of control algorithms into real-time software.
Job Requirements
Qualifications/Experience:
MINIMUM EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electronics Engineering or related field.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: 24 months experience in applying power electronics engineering concepts such as worst-case calculations, circuit design simulations with software tools such as LTSpice and Matlab/Simulink, architecture design, component selection and Magnetics design and development; design of DC/DC power conversion including resonant and isolated topologies, advanced circuit analysis and simulations for high voltage; review of PCB layout strategies for high volume manufacturability and Electromagnetic compatibility; and hardware troubleshooting and debugging control algorithm including the utilization of advance lab equipment such as Oscilloscopes, Frequency Analyzers, Impedance Analyzers, Power Analyzers, Spectrum Analyzers and EMI Receivers; and 12 months experience including: model-based design control algorithm for power electronics development using Matlab/Simulink, digital signal processing and filtering such as Finite Impulse Response (FIR) filters, Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) filters, Kalman Filters and operations with Z Transforms; working with in-circuit emulators, logic analyzers, and microcontrollers such as TI C2000 or Microchip DsPIC; embedded software development including system control design and hardware implementation; lower layer software development including microcontroller and DSP peripherals configuration; programming languages for embedded systems including C, C++ and assembly language; and script languages such as Python to enable advance control development.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENT: Occasional and up to 5% domestic travel to customers and suppliers in the Metropolitan Detroit area and international travel to internal company or customer locations depending on business need.
