Salary Range: $64,480 - $90,000
The Digital Precision String Suite (DPSS) team is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Junior Software Engineer to provide software development services at NAWCWD China Lake. The DPSS team develops and delivers innovative and custom software solutions/products that enable the ability to securely execute mission requirements.
The incumbent will perform software engineering over the product life cycle in an agile Scrum environment, encompassing requirements development, requirements analysis, design, coding, unit testing, system integration, and documentation.
Essential Job Functions:
Work closely with other software developers, test team members, systems engineers, technical writers and end users to produce a high quality product.
Developing and modifying system applications and software, fixing errors, adapting code to new design standards and hardware, improving performance, upgrading interfaces, and conducting development tests.
Participate in the peer review process.
Working with senior engineers and project leads on technical issues regarding software system design, maintenance, and security.
Attend and contribute to various development meetings.
Work in a security sensitive and process oriented environment.
Required Skills:
Due to the sensitivity of customer related requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or BS in STEM.
Must be able to obtain a Secret level security clearance and maintain for the duration of employment.
Understanding of Object Oriented Design (OOD) and Object Oriented Programming (OOP).
Knowledge in any of the following programming languages, C++, Java, and C# .
Knowledge of databases and operating systems.
Knowledge of the scrum framework, techniques, and artifacts.
Knowledge and understanding of agile software development life cycle.
Experience with Software Version Control.
Ability to learn new software and technologies quickly.
Self-motivated, detail-oriented and adaptable.
Ability to work independently as well as within a team.
Ability to speak/write clearly and professionally.
Desired Skills:
Previous experience in the government/DoD software development.
Experience or understanding of Agile Scrum methodologies.
Experience with avionics systems and components.
Experience with Git Version Control System.
Knowledge of Jira or similar tool set.
