Engineering Technician II

Summary:

The Engineering Technician II, under close supervision of a technical lead or unit supervisor, performs a variety of basic or routine tasks during the installation, maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, calibration, testing, fabrication, construction, and operation of diverse electronic/mechanical equipment and systems.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

1. Supports production of technical documents and drawings.
2. Researches technical issues for input to reports and studies.
3. Supports fabrication and testing of hardware and software systems.
4. Assists in design, coding, and documentation of software products.
5. Maintains filing systems, databases, and logs as needed for tracking project status and inventory.
6. Assists work unit personnel as the on-site customer interface for equipment/system installation, testing, fabrication, and other engineering tasks as needed.
7. Complies with engineering documentation standards, engineering plans, system specifications, and test procedures.
8. Uses established policies and procedures and limited subject matter knowledge to complete relatively simple assignments of moderate complexity that vary in nature and sequence.

Other Related Duties:

Performs related work as required.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED equivalent. Hands-on experience performing tasks related to the work unit is desired. The incumbent must have good communication and analytical skills and basic working knowledge of computer systems and integrated software application programs. The incumbent must exhibit basic planning/organizing skills and must be able to take direction from senior unit personnel and work under deadlines. The incumbent must qualify for and maintain a government security clearance and must have a valid, current state driver's license.

Work Environment, Physical and Mental Demands:

Typical environment includes working outdoors on elevated heights, remote work areas, attending meetings, constant use of sight abilities while reviewing documents, constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, and constant mental alertness. Ability to perform physical tasks including, but not limited to, moderate lifting (40 pounds). Ability to use a computer to input and retrieve information and data. Ability to travel as required by the Company.
