Linux Administrator - Mid with Security Clearance

Summary: The Mid-Level Linux Administrator will be responsible for maintaining, upgrading, and managing our Linux-based systems, with a particular focus on Red Hat Linux environments.
The role requires a deep understanding of government information security standards, particularly FISMA, and a general knowledge of zero trust security principles.
The ideal candidate will be motivated to achieve Red Hat certification if not already certified.
Responsibilities and Duties:
• Install, configure, and support Red Hat Linux operating systems and servers.
• Monitor system performance and ensure compliance with security standards, with a focus on Red Hat-specific configurations.
• Implement and oversee security measures in line with FISMA requirements, leveraging Red Hat's security features.
• Manage system backups, disaster recovery, and provide troubleshooting support for Red Hat Linux environments.
• Collaborate with IT security teams to adopt zero trust security measures, with an understanding of Red Hat's security tools and protocols.
• Conduct regular system audits to ensure the integrity and availability of IT resources, with expertise in Red Hat systems.
• Encourage and support the pursuit of Red Hat certification for team members.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Linux administrator, with a strong preference for experience in Red Hat environments.
• Strong knowledge of FISMA and its application in IT security.
• Familiarity with zero trust security concepts and best practices.
• Experience with Red Hat virtualization technologies and cloud services.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.
• Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) or Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) preferred, or willingness to obtain certification.
Skills:
• Proficient in Red Hat Linux environments and shell scripting.
• Knowledge of Red Hat network security and encryption technologies.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
• Strong communication and documentation skills.
Working Conditions:
• Office environment with occasional need to work outside of standard business hours.
• May require on-call availability for emergency situations.
