System Engineer (SME)/Position Navigation and Timing (PNT) /Electronic Warfare (EW)

DCS Corp Aberdeen, MD (Onsite) Full-Time

DCS is looking for a Senior Engineer with PNT and EW expertise to provide on-site systems engineering and technical project management support to a U.S. Army Product Manager.

Essential Job Functions:

Support review and approval of product and end item requirements.


Development, review and approval of system performance engineering specifications and system interface control documents including, but not limited to: Requests for proposals (RFPs), Systems engineering plan (SEP), and System requirements document (SRD).


Possess a working knowledge of GPS and other navigation sensors.


Support development, review and approval of product acquisition contract documents such as: Integrated Master Schedules (IMS), Quality Assurance Surveillance Plans (QASP), Performance Work Statements (PWS), Contract Data Requirement Lists (CDRL) and Work Breakdown Structures (WBS).


Support review of product risk development and mitigation activities.


Support development, review and approval of DODI 5000.02 Defense Acquisition System documents such as: System Engineering Plans.(SEP), Test and Evaluation Master Plans (TEMP) and Technology Readiness Assessment (TRA).


Support program reviews and system engineering technical reviews (System Requirements Review thru Physical Configuration Audit) IAW IEEE 15288.2-2014 Technical Reviews and Audits on Defense Programs.


Evaluate completeness and provide feedback on during technical reviews and documents including Engineering change proposals (ECPs). Requests for variances (RFVs), System requirements review (SRR), system functional review (SFR), Preliminary design review (PDR). Technology readiness Assessment (TRA), Integrated baseline review (IBR), Critical design review (CDR), Test Readiness Review (TRR).

System verification review (SVR), Functional configuration audit (FCA), and Production readiness review (PRR).


Support technical interchange meetings between the government and suppliers.
Prepare briefings and information papers for sensor capabilities.


Provide inputs to update and maintain systems engineering control (i.e. configuration management (CM)) tools and SharePoint for specified product lines.


Plan, coordinate, and execute hardware sensor demonstrations and data collections.
Work with other Government and support contractor team members overseeing supplier engineering development efforts.

Develop risk matrices and report on system engineering risks using available data.

Support technology readiness level analysis for specified product lines.

Must be able to effectively represent PM PNT in technical and project meetings with its customer base.


Travel up to 25% of the time.

Required Skills:

Due to the sensitivity of customer related requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required.


Bachelors degree in Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering.


DoD Secret clearance.


Minimum 10 years of experience with any of the following weapon system development activities: product design and analysis; product development; testing and data analysis; requirement verification and validation analysis.


Ability to interface with different levels and expertise of Army Product Management development personnel and Program Executive Officer level personnel.


Experience developing performance specifications and interface control documents.


Knowledge of DOD systems engineering concepts, execution of systems engineering technical reviews, and verification and validation testing.


Knowledge of Requirements Management using Dynamic Object Oriented Requirements System (DOORS).


Knowledge of Risk Management IAW DOD Risk, Issue, and Opportunity Management Guide for Defense Acquisition Programs.


Knowledge of Configuration Management IAW EIA-649B and MIL-HDBK-61A.


Familiar with Defense Acquisition University (DAU) weapon system development process.


Working knowledge of MS Office to include: MS Word, MS Power Point, and MS Excel.


Working knowledge of SharePoint.
