Technician, Laboratory 2nd Shift

Basic Function
Position Summary:
The purpose or function of this job is to act as a technician to perform lab analysis for quality control of finished product, production processes, incoming raw materials and equipment calibrations. To communicate with the Supervisor/Manager, QA technicians, and manufacturing team to effectively interpret lab results in disposition of product, processes and raw material. To maintain the organization of analysis data and associated databases and maintain the organization and supply of equipment and consumables. Another function of this position is to support the existing products of the Compound Division by molding, preparing and testing product samples as directed, and writing reports and communicating results. This is a 2nd Shift position working a schedule of Monday - Thursday (3:00 PM - 1:00 AM). Overtime and weekend work may be a possibility.
Roles & Responsibilities
General
• Finished product / in-process / viscosity analysis
• Raw material analysis and certification review
• Data entry / quarantine disposition
• Lab / equipment / supply maintenance
• Equipment calibrations
• Mold and prepare test samples
• Operate the Instron or Impact tester
• Coordinate external testing, issue Purchase Requisitions
• Write Lab Test Reports
• Prepare samples for shipment
• Other duties as assigned
Preferred Qualifications
Work Experience
• A minimum of two years' experience in a technical lab role preferred
Min. Qualifications
Area of Expertise, Requirements
• Lab techniques, mathematical and mechanical aptitude.
• Experience in science or technical field.
• Basic knowledge of materials and physical properties. Scientific methodology.
• Computer Skills (Excel, Word, Statistical),
• Report writing
• Organization,
• Communication (written and verbal),
• Ability to operate compression presses, laboratory equipment
• Ability to multi-task and is self-motivated
• sets high personal standards,
• works well in a hands-on, fast-paced environment
• Must be able to work any shift and/or weekends.
• Must be capable of learning appropriate test procedures and methods
• Must have the ability to operate and calibrate test equipment
• Must have good attendance and good employment history
• Ability to work with fiberglass
• Must have the ability to work with limited supervision and direction
• Must be capable of lifting 50 pounds
• Proficient use of other gauges inclusive of, but not limited to: Micrometer (digital or analog), Calipers (digital or dial), Height Gauge, Gauge Pins, Torque Wrench, Instron, etc.
Education
• Associate Degree or equivalent education in related field desired, or equivalent of 2 years of experience in lieu of degree
• Minimum of High School diploma or GED
• Ongoing and continuing education expected
