Overview:
This is an opportunity to join the fast-paced world of Ground Combat Vehicle Electronics and Architecture solution integration working for DCS Corporation’s Army Ground Combat Systems Engineering group located in Sterling Heights, MI. You will work alongside our customer in the Research and Development Command and be rewarded with a technically challenging and diverse career in the areas of ground vehicle advancement through high current and high voltage electronics and component development and integration, with the goal of adding hybrid power and hybrid powertrain capabilities to current and Future Force vehicles. In this position, you will serve as part of the Army Team responsible for all aspects of systems engineering that includes researching, architecting, trade studies, designing, developing, testing, and transitioning ground vehicle electronics technology across all domains.
Essential Job Functions:
As a Systems Integration Engineer, you will be responsible the progress, development, and advancement of ground vehicle mobility system improvement through high current and high voltage electronics and component development and integration.
This position will use and integrate current and next-generation prototype vehicle mobility components and equipment to meet the Army’s goals and objectives of fuel efficiency and expanded power capabilities.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, organizations, and industry stakeholders to understand requirements to advance the technologies and solutions of Army Ground Vehicle Electronic Solutions.
Conducts a variety of engineering tasks related to the development, operation, and maintenance of complex technology systems and ensures integration of processes of methodologies to ensure performance of total system.
Display attention to detail and an analytical mind to capture and publish requirements for program goals and objectives to create superior ground vehicle electronic solutions and architectures.
Passion for technology design, develop, integrate, and deploy to the field.
Comply with project direction and planned cost, schedule, and performance milestones.
Provide leadership, guidance and direction to engineers working other disciplines, junior engineers, and inexperienced teammates on communication interdependencies.
Required Skills:
Due to the sensitivity of customer related requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOD Secret clearance.
Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical/Computer/Software Engineering. (Mechanical Engineers considered but not preferred)
Minimum 5 years of industry experience.
Prior experience with large project lifecycle from concept through integration and test for vehicle system integration.
Vehicle electrical system experience and expertise in all subsystems.
Expert in all aspects of diagram and schematic interpretation, development, and modification.
Application of engineering best practices in design and fabrication/manufacturing.
Prior experience with failure mode identification, classification, and mitigation.
Familiarity with both one-wire and two-wire system diagrams.
Problem solving skills with emphasis on analysis, COA development and decision presentations.
Proficient in MS Office (Project, Word, Excel, VISIO, PowerPoint).
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Be able to independently define, plan, and execute work assignments.
Program management skills especially as it relates to cost, schedule, risk, planning and execution.
Ability to Travel to various customer and contractor facilities and test centers (10-20% Travel).
Desired Skills:
Prior Military vehicle system experience – especially with military specifications in all the design, configuration, maintenance, security, and storage areas.
Prior Military Service (and/or DOD civilian or contractor experience).
Preference given to candidates with experience with Electric Vehicles, High Power Integration, High Power Safety, and test.
Experience with component ruggedization and harsh environment survivability requirements.
Prior experience with EMI/EMC mitigation design for RFI emission immunity.
Knowledge of the US Army PEO/PM structure and their respective product lines and needs.
