Architect-Engineer Design Program Manager

Our client, a respected engineering and design firm, is seeking an experienced Architect-Engineer Design Program Manager to lead their design team. This is an exciting opportunity to guide impactful projects, collaborate with industry experts and make a lasting difference.

Job Summary:

As an Architect-Engineer Design Program Manager, you will lead multiple simultaneous A/E design projects from inception to completion, overseeing planning, design and execution while ensuring high-quality, cost-effective solutions that meet client needs. Your leadership will drive innovation and success as you guide your team through the design process, with a strong focus on client engagement, project delivery and profitability. This role, based in Severna Park, MD, offers a dynamic blend of technical challenges, leadership responsibilities, and client collaboration.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Scoping & Planning: Define scope, objectives and deliverables in alignment with client needs
  • Lead Design Teams: Guide multi-disciplinary teams to develop innovative solutions for federal projects
  • Oversee Design & Execution: Manage the design process from concept through construction, ensuring timely delivery
  • Budget & Schedule Management: Collaborate with teams to establish and maintain project budgets and schedules
  • Client Engagement: Partner with federal clients to refine design scope and ensure project alignment
  • Coordination & Review: Conduct design reviews and ensure ongoing project progress

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Civil/Structural Engineering
  • Certification: Professional Engineering (PE) registration
  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years managing “at risk” design projects, particularly in federal or complex design environments
  • Leadership & Technical Expertise: Strong technically-based leadership skills with a proficient understanding of multi-engineering disciplines and technical design standards
  • A/E Cost Proposal Experience: Experience preparing A/E cost proposals
  • Project Management Expertise: Strong project management skills, with experience in budgeting, scheduling, and delivering projects successfully
  • Microsoft Office Proficiency: Advanced skills with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Travel Flexibility: Ability to travel to project sites, bid meetings, and kick-off calls as needed
