Software Centric Systems Engineer to support US ARMY Autonomous Ground Resupply (AGR) and Expedient Leader Follower (ExLF) program responsible for transitioning an R&D effort into a program of record by flexibly introducing systems engineering practices and principles using a suite of available software tools such as JIRA, DOORS, MagicDraw, as well as have the ability to quickly learn and apply new tools to increase the efficiency of value delivery.
This position will require a politically savvy individual who thrives in a highly collaborative, highly interactive environment. The individual become an information broker between non-technical Government employees and highly technical engineers and software developers. Additional this individual will need to have the ability to add structure to an unstructured environment by persuasion/nudging/coaching.
Essential Job Functions:
Proficient in communicating with technical engineering managers, system/software architects, software developers, and non-technical program managers, end users, and military leadership.
Responsible for the development, management, and review of DoD Systems Engineering Documentation including the Performance Specification (P-SPEC), Software Development Plan (SDP) System/Subsystem Design Description (SSDD), Software Requirements Specification (SRS), Cyber Security Strategy, Requirements Traceability Matrix (RTM), Requirements Verification Matrix (RVM).
Proficient in the requirement development process utilizing tools *such as* IBM Rational Doors, JIRA, Confluence, etc to communicate, trace, track, and develop requirement baselines though multiple builds of the software development process.
Proficient in project management tools such as Confluence.
Skills and Qualifications Section
Due to the sensitivity of customer related requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required.
Must be able to obtain a DoD Secret clearance.
Bachelor's Engineering degree paired with twelve (12) or more years of relevant experience, or Master’s Engineering degree paired with ten (10) or more years of relevant experience.
At least 5 years of experience in a Systems Engineering role.
Proficient in Microsoft Office.
Requirements creation and management experience.
Knowledge of the DOD acquisition process/DAU coursework.
Experience with requirements management tools such as IBM Rational Doors.
Experience with MagicDraw.
Analyzing complex systems and/or information and breaking them down into manageable chunks which can be easily explained.
Innovating creative solutions to effect share information with audiences of varying technical ability.
Persuading team members and government officials on how to do things differently than “the way they’ve always been done”.
Writing clear and concise emails and documentation without burying the important points in paragraphs of unnecessary information.
