The Applications System Engineer is responsible for ensuring the logical and systematic transformation of customer or product requirements into a total systems solution which meets scheduling and technical constraints. They are responsible for performing requirements analysis and management, systems architecture and design and systems integration and verification to ensure that the final products fully meet internal and external customer requirements. The engineer will convert customer requirements into product requirements and design specifications and lead the software/hardware/mechanical developers to ensure that all requirements are met, and the product quality is achieved. They will work with the engineers and suppliers to define the requirements, track customer specifications and versions to ensure proper product definition and track and resolve customer specification issues. The Applications Systems Engineer will document and maintain product requirement exceptions and identify risk level associated with new feature development based on requirements status. They will perform technical design analysis, FMEAs, design reviews and create design artifacts consistent with NS development processes and methodologies. They are responsible for driving process, procedure, and methodology improvements to optimize work efficiency at the team and organizational level.Major Duties/Responsibilities

•Document all requirements for the assigned product in an overall systems requirements document. Ensure proper traceability. . 2. 20%
•Performs requirements management process – cascades requirements to appropriate departments (SW, Mechanical, HW, etc.),
•Tracks system level issues (requirements, defects and technical issues) and gathers regular updates based on discussion with respective departments. 3. 20%
•Ensures that all requirements are met, and the product quality is achieved. 4. 15%
•Identifies specification issues and negotiates with internal and external teams to reach a resolution. 5. 10%
•Creates system test plans based on specifications and standards. 6. 5%
•Analyzes test results. Education, Experience and Knowledge
Required and/or preferred level of education, knowledge and skills that are necessary.
BS in Electrical, Mechanical or Computer Science Engineering; Masters preferred
•1+ years of experience in System Engineering.
•Knowledge in automotive communication protocols (CAN, Ethernet, Lin) and electrical engineering.
•Experience in analyzing logs of in-vehicle communication networks such as CAN, LIN, MOST, Ethernet, etc.
•Experience in creating and authorizing specification documents.
•Working knowledge of requirement analysis tools.
•Proven track record of successful launches of automotive products, with a comprehensive knowledge of product development practices in a Tier 1 automotive company.
•Excellent customer interface and presentation skills with the ability to explain complex technical systems in simple terms. Controlled under significant pressure.
•Ability to work with a diverse engineering team, challenge team members where necessary, and motivate team to provide excellent results.
•Comprehensive knowledge and ability to clearly communicate in English (both verbal and written); Japanese a plus.
•2-4 years of experience regarding responsibility / main activities (listed above) in serial development or comparable experience in automotive (mandatory); HMI products / electronics (preferable) industry.
•1+ years requirements management experience using PTC Integrity or DOORS.
•Experience with clusters, head up displays or other HMI products.
•Understand SW architecture and modern operating systems, along with familiarity with SW development process (Agile), electronic systems, and microprocessors.

5% domestic and/or international.
