Job Title: Assembly Operator

Department: Stromag

Business: Altra Industrial Motion – New Hartford

Location: New Hartford, Connecticut

FLSA Status: Hourly Non-Exempt

Reports to: Production Supervisor

Date: May 5th, 2019



SUMMARY:

Assembles parts to form complete units or subassemblies at a workstation, multiple workstations or other assigned location. Utilizes hand tools, small power tools and other specialized equipment to perform assigned job. Reassembles or reworks units as required. Does basic preventative maintenance on assembly equipment. Required to move materials using hand trucks.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
Duties include but are not limited to:

Required to perform set-up for all operations listed below.
Ability to read from blue prints and work instructions
Burnish
Drilling required for assembly
Press assembly
Paint
Manual assembly
Parts washing and wash tank start-up procedures
Magnetize
Encapsulation
Wire termination
Electrical checks
Soldering
Maintain Production Records
Adheres to all safety rules and report questionable conditions to department supervisor
Apply and recommend Lean practices



QUALIFICATIONS and COMPETENCIES:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be team oriented, understand the proper use of common tools and measuring devices including but not limited to test fixtures, calipers, gages, etc., have the ability to build complex assemblies and must have the ability and willingness to train others. Familiarity of barcode systems desirable.


EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE CREDENTIALS:
High School education or equivalent, preferred
Up to 3 months of assembly experience preferred but not required
