Business Analyst

Robert Half Technology is looking for a Sr. Business Analyst for a long term contract in Rolling Meadows. For immediate consideration please email me directly at lindsy.liggett@rht.com

Responsibilities:
•Supports release planning (blueprinting) efforts by identifying data pertinent scope and requirements driven by Policy, Claims, Billing workstreams on major and monthly releases.
•Gathers data needs from business consumers: BI/Analytics, Finance, Operations, etc.; and assesses the business “reasonableness” of the requests, as well as getting to the best requirement for the business.
•Identifies and documents data sources for these data needs by digging into XML manuscripts, table structures, talking with upstream BAs/architects.
•Creates functional specs documenting the data requirements and data sources for these requirements.
•Documents business, functional and technical requirements related to data mapping and ETL requirements and related data lineage and requirements traceability.
•Responsible for analyzing data-related business and technical needs, eliciting and documenting requirements related to data integration from source systems to target data warehouse capabilities (i.e. ETL tools, ODS, EDW, etc.), data marts, data analytics tools, and information delivery solutions.
•Documents Data Mapping from source to target for all custom tables in and extracts from the warehouses.
•Works with the Data Architect, responsible for developing and maintaining a formal description of the data and data structures, including data definitions, data models, data flow diagrams.
•Performs initial triage of potential production issues and some of the QA issues to identify who should be looking at them.
•Takes and distributes meeting notes in team meetings and collaborative sessions with other teams. Follows up on action items.
•Manages/organizes project and team documentation.
•Manages SNOW (service) queue including creating reports requested, assigning tickets to team members and creating Jira tickets, as necessary.
•Manages Issue Tracker (service) queue including assigning tickets to team members and creating Jira tickets, as necessary.
•Team support /admin type work.

P&C Insurance experience is a MUST

Job Requirements

Qualifications: •Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, related degree or applicable experience •2+ years of successful business analysis experience within an IT organization with the increasing scope of responsibilities oOne needs at least 5 years to be considered for Senior Data Business Analyst role •5+ years of experience in the commercial P& C insurance industry is desired. Specifically, familiarity with various insurance products, lines of business and commercial / P&C insurance data model is desired. •Relevant experience as a business analyst for technical projects •Experience creating SQL queries to do data analysis. •Understanding of business intelligence/data warehousing technologies •Preferably strong knowledge of insurance industry data models/modeling relevant to the property & casualty industry and ability to apply models to a newly developed data warehouse and related tools and processes •Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills, capable of presenting complex issues in a clear, concise and persuasive manner to the business and technical professionals, including C-level executives •Strategic mindset with an ability to plan and execute strategies •Demonstrated initiative, self-starter, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills •Strong work ethic and commitment to meeting deadlines •Understanding of common SDLC practices/methodologies, agile methodology a plus
