Our client is looking for structured cable technicians to join their team on upcoming projects. They will be working with cat5, cat6, fiber optics, punching down and terminating on patch panels, bringing fiber to IDFs, and building out cable pathways.
Techs and Cable pullers run the data wire through the buildings so that devices can be hardwired and connected through Wireless Access Points so that the buildings have connectivity. Terminating means they can connect the cables to the end points via a punch down tool to a distribution panel in the com closet on every floor so everything works correctly. Candidates need to understand how to handle fiber cable. It's glass so you can't be rough with it or bend it at sharp angles. Must be willing to work long hours and some Saturdays. OT is expected but not guaranteed. Slow downs and work stoppages can and do happen due to General Contractor (Flour) delays or other construction delays that prevent work from being started.
Sites will require technicians to have full PPE gear which will be provided and is expected to be returned at the end of employment (hard hat, vest, glasses, and work boots). Safety training via OSHA certs are highly desirable.
