Commercial Millwork Sr. Product Engineer

.Acara Solutions is seeking a Commercial Millwork Sr. Product Engineer for our client in Henrico, VA 23231.Job Description:Manages engineering projects from inception to completion independently or by leading a group of design engineers depending on the scale of the project. Specializes in creating the designs and developing new fixtures for retail, hospitality, grocery, technology and/or food service industries. Responsible for bringing fixtures from the design phase through production. Exercises discretion and independent judgment regarding the engineering specifications required for a given product application, based on advanced engineering and product knowledge. Works with vendors to produce 3D builds and installations that are true to design intent. Validates new designs and creates prototypes of fixturing components, to include finish sample boards for complete project materials, concept renders, laser file prep, and assembly instructions. Works with vendors to produce 3D builds and installations that are true to design intent. Responsible for adhering to the project timeline, tracking accurate hours, tracking development and maintaining in-house work progress reports. Responsibilities:
  • Supplies engineering and technical support to existing and prospective customers, resolves engineering related problems with customers, and processes necessary approvals
  • Collects data and creates samples for the Company’s “next generation” fixtures; verifies industry and market standards or developments; and makes recommendations for clarification or changes in the Company’s fixture designs, quality or production processes
  • Coordinates the collection and organization of data for the project and incorporates this information into production drawings in a timely manner
  • Coordinates with Account Manager/Project Manager’s to establish timelines and due dates
  • Responsible for independent choices concerning matters of significance, such as whether to depart from prescribed standards or permitted tolerances
  • Responsible for validating new designs
  • Coordinates the creation of prototypes of fixturing components, finish sample boards for complete project materials, concept renders, laser file prep, and assembly instructions
  • Leads a team of engineers assigned to specific engineering projects
  • Coordinate/schedule work with assigned engineers
  • Responsible for creation of new and revised drawings using SolidWorks engineering software
  • Ensures that all necessary project information is incorporated into production drawings
  • Ensures all details are accurate and concise with the appropriate level of information/detail
  • Responsible for creation of detailed Bill of Materials (BOM) to include all items within scope of work
  • Follows project schedule and meets drawing deadlines
  • Participates in the design of products in accordance with our client's standards of work
  • Job Requirements

    .Required Skills / Qualifications:
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Industrial Design, or Related Field with a minimum of 8 years relevant work experience and/or demonstrated proficiency as a Design Engineer.
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in commercial millwork product design engineering experience
    • Minimum of 1 year of experience creating 3D models using SolidWorks
    • Minimum of 1 year of experience with BOM maintenance using computerized systems
    Preferred Skills / Qualifications:
    • Experience with SolidWorks PDM, AutoCAD or Revit preferred
    • History of working with overseas manufacturers is preferred
    • Knowledge of materials and fabrication techniques common to the retail and fixture industries
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Ability to effectively communicate design concepts through strong visuals and presentation
    • Ability to work with minimal supervision
    • Self-driven with exceptional time management skills
    • Process Improvement Focus: Develop and implement continuous process improvement
    • Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Project and Microsoft Office applications
