Summary of Position:

The Data Business Systems Analyst captures data usage definitions and identifies inconsistencies across the enterprise.  They are responsible for identification of key data elements, extraction of this data from source systems, the defining transformation rules in support of Master Data Management, Data Quality and Data Modeling activities.


Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Highlight/identify inconsistencies of data usage and review requirements with stakeholders
  • Ensure detailed data designs match high level data designs and are traceable to consistent definition detailed defined by the business stakeholders
  • Perform analysis of as-is data architecture, to-be data architecture process, and define transformation rules required to traverse the gap
  • Participate in transitioning the requirements and use cases to the Data Architects, and ensure a clear and complete understanding of the requirements to meet the enterprise business need
  • Assist in translating requirements into test conditions and expected results for data product, performance and user acceptance testing
  • Ensure that solutions meet requirements outlined in the design documentation
  • Perform all planned work is delivered at the agreed time, cost and quality constraints
  • Ensure that developed solutions are peer reviewed and formally documented
  • Create designs in accordance with the architectural roadmap and support the development, execution and testing deliverables
  • Articulate design decisions and ensure required artifacts are completed
  • Support functional and technical requirements gathering
  • Work with program/project managers to develop work sizing effort and key aspects of the project/program and business case
  • Provide advice and conduct reviews during development lifecycle
  • Partner with data architects and data steward to identify and define enterprise data needs and components required to support business solution development
 
Education and Experience Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in data analysis, data profiling, and mapping
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Computer Science or related field
  • Experience analyzing and breaking down problems and information using structured frameworks and methodologies

Physical Requirements:

 

This is primarily a sedentary office position which requires the incumbent to have the ability to operate computer equipment, speak, hear, bend, stoop, reach, lift, and move and carry up to 25 lbs. Finger dexterity is necessary.

  • Robust skills in documentation creation, data analysis and mapping, query writing,  with a high attention to detail including planning and organization
  • Strong experience in requirements gathering and documentation
  • Follow directions from a supervisor
  • Interact well with co-workers, supervisors and management
  • Understand and follow posted work rules and procedures
  • Accept constructive criticism
  • Maintain Professional appearance and demeanor at all times
