Development Engineer

Product Test Development Engineer is a critical role in ensuring the successful launch of new products and in the maintenance of existing products through end of life. The role is an important link between R&D, outsource manufacturing partners, and Supply Chain, and is responsible for managing product test to ensure quality and maximize productivity.
The Product Test Development Engineer will exhibit genuine interest in solving work problems through proactively asking questions, clearly communicating and collaborating both internally and externally to grow the business. In addition, the Product Test Development Engineer is responsible for understanding our competition and customers, and showing initiative to learn and continuously improve company processes.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Listed in order of relevance:
- Manage design of required test software (embedded and PC-based), test hardware fixtures, and procedures to support internal and external manufacturing processes.
- New Product Development – In conjunction with the tollgate product development process, identify, develop and implement test platforms/strategies that result in improved quality levels.
- Sustaining Product and Production Support – Support internal and outsourced production by: providing technical product and test process training, troubleshooting product test failures, and resolving test hardware/software/fixture issues. Manage design of new—and updates to existing—tests to improve product quality, data accuracy, and production efficiency.
- Design and implement applications, databases, and other software components to support Supply Chain, R&D, Engineering, and other departments in: testing/using products, accessing production test data, and other related actions.
- Stay abreast of current and future trends in test engineering, electrical engineering, software engineering, and manufacturing engineering, and use that knowledge to implement industry best practices into the company.
- Respond to change productively and handle other duties as required.
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering with software development experience
OR Bachelor’s Degree in Software Engineering with electrical/electronic hardware design experience
- 2+ years of experience as an Electrical Engineer, Software Engineer, Control System Engineer, or Test Engineer preferred.
- Proven teamwork and leadership ability.
- Experience with multiple programming languages, multiple operating systems (including embedded, RTOS, and non-Microsoft variants), schematic/PCB design, embedded software/hardware design, data acquisition/test systems, database design/programming, version control, and basic CAD preferred.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
- Proficient in using Microsoft Office applications, MRP/Product Data Management platforms, and statistical software.
- Ability to understand electrical schematics and troubleshoot hardware from the component to the system level.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Windows structure and configuration.
- Familiarity with networking concepts (TCP/UDP/IP, subnetting, telnet/FTP/TFTP/IMCP, ports, and sockets).
- Ability to read, speak, and write in English required.
