Electrical Design Engineer

Job Description

.Acara Solutions is looking for Electrical Design Engineer for our client located Sidney, NY.
  • Conducts and coordinates the electrical design, development and testing for parts of a major project or several minor projects.
  • Works with other engineers, technicians, designers to meet design objectives and interfaces with customers to solve field problems and develop new designs.
  • Technical responsibilities in product design, development and evaluation of printed circuit boards as it relates to communications. Shares activities with one or more technicians, designers or engineers.
  • Develops schematics and layouts for high density, complex, high speed, multi-layer printed circuit boards.
  • Competency with a variety processor, FPGAs, network switches, network PHYs, etc.
  • Capable of understanding existing hardware / software designs and continuing the process of development or reverse engineering.
  • Performs or defines hardware tests for evaluation of designs.
  • Capable of debugging hardware or software.
  • Job Requirements

    .Required Skills / Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience with Computer-Aided Design (Mentor Graphics PADS).
  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience as Electrical Design Engineer.
  • Preferred Skills / Qualifications:
  • Master’s Degree in a related engineering.
  • A familiarity with software such as C, C#, FPGA, or python.
  • Needs some background in networking and or communications. Familiar with methods of testing hardware or software using compliant standards (i.e. IEEE)
  • Ability to use bench test equipment (meters, oscilloscopes, power supplies) as part of the hardware verification / debug process
  • Works independently in planning and coordinating resources necessary to complete assignments
  • Innovative and demonstrates significant ingenuity in problem solving and suggesting plans of action
  • Reviews and analyzes requirements in order to meet customer specifications
  • Interacts independently with customers, vendors and client personnel effectively
  • Coordinates and provides support to other departments within the company.
  • Interfaces with Marketing, Manufacturing, Purchasing and Quality Departments.
