Energy Engineer

Job Description

CALIBRE Systems Inc., an employee-owned Management Consulting and Information Technology Solutions company, is looking for an Electrical or Mechanical Engineer with knowledge of energy generation, resilience, and electrical distribution to support the U.S. Air Force Office of Energy Assurance Engineering Team with developing conceptual designs for projects.

The engineer will provide technical support to government clients pursuing distributed generation, energy storage, and microgrid projects involving the integration of renewable or conventional generation and energy storage technologies to provide reliable, efficient, and secure energy solutions to clients. Interact with clients, utility companies, developers, and other stakeholders to evaluate the technical feasibility of implementing different energy projects. Develop conceptual design, one-line diagrams. Perform cost estimates and write equipment specifications to ensure compliance with industry standards and codes.

Job Requirements

-BS degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering with minimum of 2 years of experience with electrical utilities and/or energy generation/resilience projects

-MA or MS degree in Engineering or a related field, preferred

-U.S. citizen with ability to obtain a security clearance (active secret clearance is preferred)

-Ability to interpret single-line diagrams and/or understanding of electrical distribution

-Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills

-Ability to work in a team–oriented environment

-Ability to travel to work sites up to 25% of the time

Required Experience

-Experience in working with federal government clientele (military preferred)

-Experienced in / understanding of renewable and/or non-renewable energy generation projects (e.g. Photovoltaic (PV) power plants and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), natural gas generation)

-Experienced in / understanding of microgrid systems (including controls, grid security, and SCADA)

-Knowledge of industry codes and standards, including IEEE, NEC, and ANSI

-Experience with applying engineering theories, standards, concepts, resources, and techniques
