This will be a Field Service Engineering Role and will be required to travel 100% domestically. You will be required to drive to each project location. Will have to use own car to drive to each project but will reimburse the mileage of the trip. This person will be traveling to customer sites to setup and install their systems. Will be a great role to gain experience in the PLC and controls industry. Must have basic electrical background with knowledge of PLC's. Will start in a field service role but will have the ability to move in to a controls engineer down the road where travel will decrease.
-Work closely with electrical installers and Controls Engineers to implement and validate simple to highly complex material handling systems at customer sites located throughout North America.
-Load emulated PLC programs and complete static functional testing according to received Description of Operation and drawing documentation for custom material handling systems.
-Complete material handling system I/O and device level checkout and validation. Troubleshoot and correct component problems ( PLC, field devices, network repeaters, etc.) as required.
-Testing, validate and troubleshoot various communications and controls networks such as Ethernet IP, Device Net, Control Net, Profi-bus, AS-I, and CAN.
-Turnover validated subsystems to controls engineering group, with appropriate validation checklists.
-Provide daily and weekly progress reports of accomplished tasks and exceptions.
Job responsibilities Include:
-Strong working knowledge of AC/DC circuits and multi phase AC power systems.
-Working knowledge or experience with any various PLC and PLC software platforms, including Allen Bradley, Siemens, and
Modicon, with preferably five years of material handling systems experience utilizing one or more of these control
-Working knowledge of various network applications, including Ethernet IP, Device Net, Control Net, Profi-bus, AS-I, and CA ;including ability to install, validate and troubleshoot networks.
-Ability to troubleshoot and correct fundamental PLC software/logic and work closely with other PLC and software engineers and
remotely to diagnose more difficult issues.
-Ability to read field wiring and panel wiring schematics, and validate, troubleshoot and correct I/O and other control device issues.
-Familiar with bar code scanner systems and fundamentals of operation.
-Detailed and task oriented. Willing to learn new systems.
-Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
-Willing and able to travel 100%.
