Title: IT Support Engineer
Location:  San Francisco, 94080
Duration: 6 months- Possible Extension or Conversion  

One of CA’s top genetic medicine companies focused on neuromuscular disease is looking for an experienced IT Professional with advanced technical skills and a strong focus on customer service. As an IT Support Engineer, this individual will play a key role in support and delivery of IT services to end users. The successful candidate will be a team player that understands the importance of collaboration but can also take direction and drive the resolution of issues to completion with minimal supervision. This individual will use extensive technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and service dedication to drive the continuous commitment of IT service to the business.

Responsibilities:
Provide advanced technical support for IT systems and end users
  • Responsible for administering and maintaining applications, assisting users, and managing service desk incidents
  • Support of new hire orientation activity is required
  • Work with business units to identify, prioritize, and resolve issues impacting business users and processes
  • Assigned new project work implementing and deploying systems, applications or processes as needed
  • Participate in change control within operations of corporate IT environment
  • Provide varying levels of technical assistance to end users as a component of managing service requests
  • Perform system administration on multiple core IT platforms as trained/required (Email, Phone System, etc.)
  • Troubleshoot system outages and other issues impacting systems and users
  • Provide documentation for the preparation, deployment, procedures, and design of IT environments
  • Understand verification regarding acceptable performance and accessibility of newly deployed IT solutions
  • Work with third party vendors/partners to troubleshoot access issues or other application problems
  • Work schedule includes 'out of normal' work hours for IT support & monthly maintenance
  • Other related duties as assigned

Required Education, Skills and Experience
  • BS/BA degree or equivalent combination of education/work experience with 2-4+ years of relevant experience supporting Enterprise IT environments and solutions in an IT Service position or similar role
  • Strong experience provisioning new users with IT equipment and access
  • Proven experience using multiple collaboration tools to support remote staff and contractors
  • Demonstrated experience with administration of IT platforms is required (Exchange, Active Directory, Group Policy, Box.com, Office 365, Okta, Skype)
  • Strong experience with Windows Operating Systems (7,8,10, Server 2k8, 2012)
  • Strong experience with MacOS Operating Systems
  • Excellent understanding of network connectivity and troubleshooting related user issues
  • Demonstrated understanding of IT Support as part of a business function (SLA's, ITIL practices, etc.)
  • Strong technical writing and oral communication skills
  • Proven and successful experience in a mid-size corporate environment, strong collaborator in a team atmosphere, thrives on new challenges, and has a demonstrated history successfully executing technology solutions for business challenges

Preferred Skills and Experience
  • Exposure to validated environments, change management, and regulations is preferred
  • Experience supporting mid-size biotech
  • Strong experience with first level application support and strong understanding of escalation procedures
  • Experience supporting users and applications in a lab environment
