IT Support Technician

The IT Support Technician is responsible for ensuring effective utilization of network management tools and applications to enhance system performance and limit downtime. They will establish standards for purchases of network hardware, software and telephone/video communications for current and future system needs. They will be responsible for maintaining and monitoring end-user workstations and productivity on the local area network. Other duties include providing support to staff on all company-supported applications, troubleshooting computer problems, determining the source and advising on appropriate action. Job Requirements

Knowledge and Skills Preferred: Computer operating systems knowledge Strong problem solving and troubleshooting in a Windows environment Good mechanical aptitude Ability to install, configure and maintain personal computers, networks and related hardware and software Cisco Firepower/FMC/IPS, advanced malware protection Experience with Cisco switching/routing and advance LAN/WAN Experience with virtualization and clustering primarily in Microsoft Hyper-V environment Ability to learn and support new systems and applications Strong process mapping documentation and disaster recovery planning Purchasing/ negotiations Excellent communication skills Positive attitude toward quality and customer service Duties and Responsibilities: Recommends network security improvements to Management and implements changes Supports the administration and maintenance of the company?s infrastructure Telephone and VOIP maintenance for entire company; upgrades to the telephone system Assist and support upgrades of new technology and maintaining of equipment Help desk administration- provides support when needed Report statistics of Helpdesk support systems that ensure good internal customer service Supports troubleshooting, system backups, archiving, and disaster recovery and provides expert support when necessary Plans and implements network security, including maintaining firewalls, configuring VPNs, managing host security, file permissions, file system integrity, and adding/deleting users Assists with administering servers, desktop computers, printers, routers, switches, firewalls, phones, smartphones, software deployment, security updates and patches Provides technical support for computer systems as needed during normal business hours. Critical systems at times will require 24/7 technical support Maintains confidentiality with regard to the information being processed, stored, and accessed by the end users on the network Other duties as assigned by management
