Hiring Event for a major investment Bank for NYC
The Reference Data organization is the firm-wide provider of product (financial securities), counterparty, agreement, book & account reference data, which is critical to 500 consuming applications spanning multiple lines of business (Global Markets, Global Wealth & Investment Management, etc) from the front office (trading apps, etc) to the back office.
The Cesium platform team is looking to hire an application developer to work on its strategic software platform responsible for sourcing, processing, and distributing reference data.
This person will work in a large software development team located in Jersey City and downtown NYC that is responsible for building & maintaining our tech platform leveraged by other teams within our org who are focused on building business applications. He/she will be responsible for requirements, design, implementation, testing, and support of various projects ranging from 1 to 10 people in size.
The ideal candidate will have experience in one or more of the core technologies needed to support our programs – Java, Scala or Hadoop (big data experience).
Depending on the project, he/she may also work with Hadoop HDFS, Hive, Pig, Flume, Sqoop, REST or DB2, as well as various Apache open source libraries such as Spark, Kafka and Spray.
Financial industry knowledge or experience is not required. The ideal candidate is a passionate developer who enjoys experimenting with new technologies and writing efficient, scalable, & re-usable code. This team operates like a small tech company within a large financial institution. Must have strong knowledge of programming fundamentals (algorithms and data structures)
Skills and Qualifications (not all are required):
•Development experience in Java and/or Scala
•Familiarity with Hadoop ecosystem and its components
•Experience with front end development using frameworks like Angular is a plus
•Knowledge of Hadoop HDFS, Hive, Pig, Flume and Sqoop is a plus
•Experience of writing Pig Latin and MapReduce jobs is a plus
•Experience with functional programming is a plus
•Familiarity with Semantic Web (RDF) and SPARQL is a plus
•Experience with distributed computing is a plus
•Familiarity with Zookeeper/Spark/HDFS is a plus
•4-year Computer Science or equivalent degree is preferable
•Analytical and problem-solving skills and the implementation of these skills in Big Data domain
•Ability to write reliable, manageable, and high-performance code
•Good problem-solving and communication skills and enjoys a collaborative environment
•Good verbal & written communication skills is desired
•Strong attention to details and well organized
