Most senior application systems engineer and highest technical expert playing the lead role in the development efforts for the internal and vendor deployed application systems that manage and facilitate trading activities for a major functional and/or product area within the securities businesses.
Generates application engineering policies, standards and procedures.
Lead, design, develop, test and implement the most complex design requirements, application systems components, tools and utilities, including the most complex modeling, simulation, and analytic development efforts.
Plan, perform and resolve escalated platform coding and testing issues of a technically challenging nature.
Responsible for defining opportunities across IT to maximize assets and improve processes while reducing cost.
Ensures that system improvements are monitored to increase efficiency.
Mentor and train other members of the team.
10 years of application development and implementation experience
7 years of securities industry experience
Advanced experience in capital markets business and processes
Basic knowledge and understanding of mathematical modeling
Basic knowledge and understanding of SEC, FNRA, and international regulations for building technological solutions
Experience with Core Java 1.8 Excellent understanding of memory management, collections, garbage collection, multithreading and asynchronous programming
Excellent understanding of Data Structures, Algorithms (sorting, search, etc), performance tuning, design patterns
Experience with Cache architecture or Big Data i.e. Coherence, Hbase, Hadoop, etc.
Experience with Sybase, Oracle or some other RDBMS and sound knowledge of using SQL statements, stored procedures and triggers
Experience with UNIX shell scripting & PERL
Strong understanding of OTC Derivatives products Front to back trade processing and lifecycle management
Experience working on a large regulatory, trade capture or risk management project
Good communication skills - ability to clearly articulate complex requirements and how that translates to technical implementation
Comfortable facing off with project stakeholders in Sales, Trading, Operations, Compliance, Legal, etc.
