Java Developer

Position Summary:
define, develop, test, analyze, and maintain new software applications in support of the achievement of business requirements. This includes writing, coding, testing, and analyzing software programs and applications in Java and supported technology stack. The developer will also assist in research, document, and maintain software components throughout the production life cycle.

Strategy & Planning
•Collaborate with stakeholders within the organization to translate business requirements into technical solutions. Stakeholders include Business Leaders, Operations, Architecture, Data Management, Infrastructure and other support teams.
•Influence business partners/stakeholders with effective application strategy and roadmaps and develop associated business case to secure funding for implementing enterprise solutions
•Assist in Research, API analysis, and fulfill requirements of all internal and external program users.

Acquisition & Deployment
•Manage business driven application enhancements independently working with teams, solution delivery managers, developers and matrixed resources to build solution using Agile/SCRUM and/or Waterfall SDLC methodologies.
•Conduct research on application development software products, languages, and standards in support of procurement and development efforts.
•Liaise with vendors for efficient implementation of new software products or systems and for resolution of any adaptation issues.
•Recommend, schedule, and perform software improvements and upgrades.

Operational Management
•Design, Develop and troubleshoot code and modules of software programs and applications according to specifications.
•Design, run and monitor unit tests on new and existing programs for the purposes of correcting errors, isolating areas for improvement, and general debugging.
•Develop and maintain user manuals and guidelines.
•Develop various solution project documents such as solution architecture documents, solution recommendation, package diagram, deployment diagram, design-level class diagram, sequence/activity/communication diagrams, BPM diagrams, platform specific component diagrams, and non-functional design considerations deliverable
•Work with infrastructure administrators and/or end-users to troubleshoot production problems at L2/L3 levels.

Formal Education & Certification
•College diploma or university degree in the field of computer science, information systems, or software engineering,
•Certifications in Java preferred.

Knowledge & Experience
•5-7 years of hands on development experience in Java, Spring, Hibernate, JDBC, Tomcat, supported technology stack.
•3+ years of experience with REST API and Web Services desirable.
•2+ years of experience working with development tools such as Maven, Jenkins, SVN/Git, Nexus/Artifactory.
•2+ years of experience with relational database like Microsoft SQL Server or Oracle.
•1+ years of hands on experience with JavaScript programming is a plus.
•Hands-on experience developing unit test cases using Junit/Mockito.
•Knowledge of recent development trends, Microservices, API security is a plus.
•Prior exposure on providing L2/L3 application support to business critical applications is a plus.
•Exposure to HRMS / FMS systems like PeopleSoft is preferred.
•Must possess excellent understanding of coding methods and best practices.
•Experience working in an agile environment (with atlassian tool stack) is a plus.
