Junior IT Technician

Job Description

The TMX Finance ® Family of Companies is looking for a Junior IT Technician to join our team and prepare new desktop and laptop computers for our team members and stores. You will be an expert troubleshooter and serve as support for repairing desktop and laptop computers, printers and/or scanners for our store locations. Preparation includes installing Windows OS software using imaging tools, updating drivers and installing OS updates, testing and packing equipment for shipment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Inventory and prepare new computer systems (computers, monitors, printers) for shipment to new stores, new computer/laptop systems for corporate employees based on onboarding notifications, and test and prepare DigiModem systems for new stores.

Install and perform minor repairs to hardware, software, and peripheral equipment, following design or installation specifications on all equipment for all stores.

Maintain and review helpdesk tickets, problems and remedial action taken, and installation activities. Inspecting equipment and complete helpdesk orders to prepare for delivery to all stores.

Read technical manuals, confer with users, and conduct computer diagnostics to investigate and resolve problems and to provide technical assistance and support.

Confer with staff, users, and management to establish requirements for new systems or modifications.

Refer major hardware or software problems or defective products to vendors or technicians for service on all equipment.

Ensure all IT equipment has item number and labeled and put in proper area in warehouse.

Working with applications such as Great Plains, PXE booting, Deploying Windows 7 and 10 using SCCM, Bomgar support, Panatrack inventory management, Mobile device support (Android). Working with MaaS360 Mobile Device Management software.

Create, maintain, and update PC images using MS WAIK.

Repair returned defective desktop and/or laptop computers and place back into warehouse inventory.

Manage ticket requests for repairs, answering requests in a timely manner.



Minimum Qualifications

  • 1-3 years of experience troubleshooting and repairing desktop/laptop computers, printers and scanners
  • Must be proficient in removing and replacing computer hardware including memory modules, HDD & CD/DVD drives and power supplies
  • Demonstrate knowledge of Windows 7 OS configurations including installing and updating drivers, software updates and configuring basic networking
  • Familiarity with MS WAIK or other computer imaging packages
  • Must be able to troubleshoot and repair desktop/laptop computers and printers
  • Requires troubleshooting skills to determine and isolate hardware or software problems

Preferred Qualifications

  • Although not required - A+, MCP certification or Associates degree a plus
