Junior Systems Administrator

Job Description


Our client is seeking a Junior Systems Administrator for an exciting contract to hire opportunity. The Junior Systems Administrator will maintain and support IT infrastructure, resolve challenging incidents and problems; primarily provides 3rd level technical and troubleshooting assistance to customer inquiries, all in a manner that builds customer trust and confidence in. Provide 1st and 2nd level support as needed.

DUTIES:

  • Configures, maintains and optimizes servers running various Windows OS versions in standalone and virtualized environments.
  • Perform PowerShell Scripting to an AD environment
  • Designs and maintains customer infrastructures
  • Optimizes Windows AD and GPOs to produce desired results
  • Maintains & repairs technological equipment & peripheral devices
  • Maintains user level backups; monitors server backups & escalates if backup fails
  • Performs advanced network troubleshooting
  • Performs regular system updates
  • Works closely with, and mentors Tier I & II staff.
  • Provides technical assistance and training to system users
  • Communicates & coordinates activities with Service Desk
  • Responds to customer inquiries and requests
  • Escalates queries not resolved within appropriate timeframe
  • Documents customer interactions using designated programs & procedures
  • Installs, or assists in installation, of approved hardware, software & peripheral components



REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent combination of related education and experience
  • 5+ years of overall IT Support experience
  • 2+ years of Windows Server experience (Windows Server 2012R2 - 2019)
  • 2+ years of experience PowerShell scripting to an Active Directory environment.
  • 2+ years of working and managing VMWare or Hyper-V environments
  • A+, Server+ and/or Network+ Certifications or equivalent combination of related training and experience
  • Strong communication/presentation skills
  • Understanding of Apple Operating Systems a plus
  • Understanding of G-Suite Administrative Console a plus
  • Deep knowledge of Windows Active Directory and Group Policy configuration
  • Ability to manage SCCM for PC imaging, updating and application installation
  • PowerShell scripting for automation of processes
  • Switching, routing, wireless and firewall concepts and standards
  • Knowledge of internet security & data privacy principles
  • Knowledge of VoIP systems
  • Strong troubleshooting ability
  • Organizational & time management skills
  • Excellent documentation skills
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Strong ability to embrace & gain competence in new technologies
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing with others.
  • Ability to build strong working relationships, internal and external to the organization.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form.
  • Ability to perform all duties and responsibilities in a timely and effective manner in accordance with policies, programs, and guidelines to achieve the overall objectives of the position.
  • Knowledge of how an IT ticketing environment operates
