Support the F/A-18 Lab Facilities Engineering Team by developing new designs and improvements for avionic systems lab testing.
Essential Job Functions:
Conduct a variety of engineering tasks related to the development, operation, and maintenance of NAVAIR's complex avionic systems.
Design, develop, modify, and analyze electrical and mechanical lab simulator systems for the US Navy's product integration.
Conduct experimental tests and analyze electronic equipment and electro-mechanical fabrication to establish production and operating controls.
Build and integrate new developments or upgrades to existing laboratory avionics benches for Software Configuration Set requirements.
Design-build new system architecture, including hardware, wire bundles, fibre channel networking, and digital circuits to meet testing requirements for projects and schedules according to the F/A-18 Facility Process Manuals.
Use CAD applications to draw electrical and mechanical schematics to source metal work and wire bundle fabrication.
Design Printed Circuit Boards for manufacture, fabrication, modification, or purchase.
Perform Quality Assurance reviews with Lab Facilities Fabrication Team on component development efforts that include wire bundle installation, in-place modification, populating equipment chassis, and custom / commercial equipment rack configurations.
Use hand tools for electrical build / repair equipment, including ohmmeter and soldering iron to upgrade or troubleshoot lab avionics and video equipment for testing requirements.
Analyze assigned Laboratory System Anomaly Reports to verify and correct faults or deficiencies, or to provide system enhancements when required by the Integrated Product Team sponsors.
Support AWL integration testing of system design changes to verify they meet customer requirements or correct problems.
Due to the sensitivity of customer related requirements, U.S. citizenship is required.
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Aeronautic Systems Engineering; open to recent college graduates.
Prefer 2 years’ experience or Master’s Degree with at least 1 year of experience.
Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
Must be proficient with Adobe Acrobat, MS Office Suite, and CAD applications.
Experience with Solid Edge CAD software, Visual Studio, and/or SVN Repository management is a plus.
