Our Application Development teams use their expertise in programming languages and software design to develop next-generation technology. They are responsible for developing the applications which track and move up to 38 million packages in a single day (4.7 billion annually). About this role:
The Lead Applications Developer role to support Payroll Technical Debt Remediation and Payroll Transformation/SWAT. This person will play a transformational role in updating the Payroll landscape at UPS. The individual will become a SME of the Time and Attendance domain in UPS and help shape the future state. Person selected will start on payroll open systems domain areas such as time capture & IPAT to evaluate design/issues/challenges with current system and gain necessary knowledge to support SWAT effort.
The Lead Applications Developer provides leadership in full systems life cycle management to ensure delivery is on time and within budget. He/She directs component and data architecture design, technology planning, and testing for Applications Development (AD) initiatives to meet business requirements and ensure compliance. Leads AD project activities and integration, guides teams to ensure effective communication and achievement of objectives, researches and supports the integration of emerging technologies. Lead junior team members with project related activities and tasks, guides and influences department and project teams. This position facilitates collaboration with stakeholders. Individual will be responsible for leading efforts to eliminate identified technical debt from current landscape and will play a key role in the Payroll transformation efforts to follow. Minimum Qualifications:
- Advance experience in ASP .NET Web Programming, C# .NET, Internet Development Architecture & Design and SQL and PL/SQL
- Intermediate knowledge in Agile Development, Agile & Scrum Concepts, Negotiation, Agile Development and COBOL Programming
- Knowledge of Standards and Governance Policies and Procedures
- Problem solving and decision making, delegation, effective communication, talent development, positive attitude and organization skills.
- Bachelor's degree and/or Master's degree in Computer Science or equivalent
