AceInfo is currently seeking a Linux System Administrator II, III, IV & V (Multiple Positions) to support our federal project, in College Park, MD.
AceInfo Solutions Inc. is looking to hire a Linux System Administrator II, III, IV, & V who will be an integral part of the day-to-day operations of a very large data center at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). NOAA supports one of the most commonly used weather reporting systems in the U.S., the National Weather Service. The Linux System Administrator II, III, IV, & V will be supporting mission-critical systems hosted on physical and virtual servers in an active clustering environment. If you are looking to support big data, are a Red Hat aficionado, specialized with either NetApp or VMware, or have other specialized skills necessary to support the NOAA Weather Mission, this is the position for you!
Maintains data files and control procedures for a simple system of networked personal computers or for a group of desktop computers linked to a host server
Responsible for system security and data integrity. Assigns passwords and monitors use of resources. Back up files as required
May produce periodic business reports, generate output such as labels, letters, and forms, and respond to frequent management request for information
May require extensive knowledge of software such as Microsoft Office and similar suites of business applications
May be a resident expert for applications running on a department-wide LAN or for the entire computer system in a smaller enterprise
BS/BA degree (or equivalent), plus 2 to 4 or 6 to 8 or 8 to 10 years in related field
2-4 years or 4 to 6 or 6 to 8 of experience in the field or in a related area
Support Tiers 1-3 support as needed
Assigns passwords and monitors use of resources.
Performs system backups and recovery.
Maintains data files and monitors system configuration to ensure data integrity.
Administers, installs and troubleshoots a variety of operating systems
Schedule, install, and test system software upgrades
Monitor and troubleshoot system issues
Follow organizational change processes and coordinate with team members
Must be willing to work on a 24X7 on-call basis on a rotating schedule with other system administrators
Must be willing and able to work shifts (day, mids, nights and nonstandard)
Experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) versions 5/6/7
Experience creating, maintaining, and implementing virtual machines (VMs) using VMWare
Local system administration using a KVM
Good written and verbal communication skills
Excellent customer interaction skills
Experience with Puppet/scripting for automation and finding duplicate file versions
Experience with SANs
Ability to obtain a NACI Public Trust clearance
Experience supporting scientific data systems
Experience with Citrix NetScaler for load balancing
SNMP protocol configuration experience
Local Data Manager (LDM) protocol configuration experience
LAN configuration experience
Akamai for web content caching
Big Brother experience for monitoring systems
Familiarity with PostgreSQL / MySQL databases
Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA)
